In World of Warcraft: The War Within, patch 11.0.7 has just recently arrived! With this patch comes new content on Siren Isle, the former Azerite hotspot from the Fourth War. Wrought with mystery and containing new gameplay elements, some players may need a guide to get an understanding of this content update. Luckily, this is that guide!
Starting with a tutorial on unlocking and traveling to Siren Isle, you will initially be able to quest efficiently through this zone without getting lost thanks to this article. Once you’ve quested into this new zone, the phases it cycles through deserve their rightful coverage. The new currency, Flame-Blessed Iron, will get spotlight time. Details on how to farm and also why you should farm Flame-Blessed Iron will be provided. Major Excavation events will be the last comparatively big deal that is covered by this article before you are freed to explore Siren Isle equipped with the most essential knowledge. One thing that will be left to you to explore for yourself is Cyrce’s Circlet. This is for two reasons. First, it is heavily dependent on your personal character and thus beyond the scope of an entry guide. Cyrce’s Circlet, the new ring, also has a lot of nuance to it and would make this article long enough to crash your PC–especially if you’re using Chrome, which is well known for the overheating PC to outright fire hazard pipeline.
Getting There’s Half the Battle – Traveling to Siren Isle
Assuming you have completed the main campaign questline for The War Within, you can start the quest chain for Siren Isle with Dawn, an NPC found within the Foundation Hall of Dornogal (41.8, 26.2). Once you’ve completed these quests, you’ll have two available means of getting to and from Siren Isle. Your first option is the zeppelin, which seems to be the most often taken route for its convenience. Sky-Captain Cableclamp in Dornogal (73.4, 5.2) will take you from the Isle of Dorn to Siren Isle. Once you are ready to return to your other adventures in Khaz Algar, the zeppelin will be docked in Flotsam Shoal. There is a special zeppelin rope nearby (69.7, 49.4) that will let you get up there while you can’t fly. Just make sure to hold on tight, wind and climbing rope don’t always go well together…
If you’d like to avoid the windy rope-climbing adventure, you can always take the mole machine in the Ringing Deeps! Found near Gundargaz (46.0, 30.2), this high-speed device will take you to Siren Isle (67.5, 38.7) in just a few seconds. Ignore the rust on the bolts, please. That’s irrelevant, according to the goblins.
Now that you’ve arrived, you may be wondering how to get around. A ground mount is your only safe bet to start with. Once you complete the quest titled Cyrce Would Be So Proud, you will be able to fly when the storms are inactive. While the storms are raging, you will still be grounded unless you feel reckless enough to try an Experimental Go-Pack, available from Sally Boltwrench near Flotsam Shoal for ten Flame-Blessed Iron after completing the quest Peak Precision. There are numerous speed builds available for folks who cannot stand being slowed down—check out gems, food, talents, and trinkets for your class and specialization to maximize your speed.
The Phases of Siren Isle
Despite being renowned for its raging storms, Siren Isle exists in a default state of clear skies…but not quite as clear when it comes to hostile invaders. There are three categories of invaders that you will encounter on a weekly basis. Pirate invasion weeks will have the weekly quest called Tides of Greed, Naga-riddled weeks will task you with Serpent’s Wrath, and Vrykul armies descending upon Siren Isle will bring you the quest Legacy of the Vrykul. Depending on which type of week it is, you will encounter different rares and objectives on your map.
Upon completing the current weekly quest, you will unlock the stormy side of Siren Isle. Talk to Sally Boltwrench near Flotsam Shoal to enter or exit the storm once you’ve unlocked it for the week. While you will be unable to fly, there are many activities to occupy you, such as a special assignment quest and several unique battle pets, weeklies, and not-so-secret mysteries!
Don’t Be Depressed, Gather Flame-Blessed (Iron)!
See the pun in this section’s heading? A pun, or is it just a ridiculous rhyme…eh, what does it matter? What matters here is the new currency introduced exclusively for Siren Isle! Flame-Blessed Iron has a wide variety of potential sources to fit the vast variety of playstyles World of Warcraft: The War Within has encountered. There are ways to farm it by simply grinding mobs, for those who like to watch a good movie on one monitor and play a good game on the other, but there are also more exploratory methods for obtaining your required amounts of Flame-Blessed Iron.
Before farming this currency, you should consider familiarizing yourself with the rewards you wish to purchase. This will allow you to track how close you are to your goal, inspiring and motivating you to not hit the escape key and then exit the game. On that topic, let’s review a few quick tips before the vendor rewards are revealed! It is a solid suggestion to track your progress on a three-day basis–that is, set a goal for how much Flame-Blessed Iron you wish to gather within three days. Daily goals get overwhelming, while weekly quotas leave you remembering and rushing at the very last minute. Also, try to set a calendar date, such as January 5th, for when you want to have it all collected. This will help you set your three-day quota. Divide your time between methods of currency collection to avoid burnout. Or, perhaps, dedicate to the method you find most effective and multitask, take frequent breaks, or quit your job to fully immerse yourself in the bedrotting WoW experience. Don’t worry, being unemployed isn’t necessary for farming Flame-Blessed Iron–you can get all the epic rewards in just your free time, thanks to this guide!
Back on topic! The items listed in this concise beginner’s guide are just a summary of what is available. With all of the new content, the full list would–once again–make your PC explode as its temperature surpassed that of the sun. Here are the rewards you can purchase from Soweezi! - Ensemble: Adventurous Lamplighter's Attire and Ensemble: Sacred Wayfarer’s Attire
- Cost: 3000 Flame-Blessed Iron

- Gundargaz, Dornogal, and Earthen Expedition Tabards
- Cost: 500 Flame-Blessed Iron
- Reason for selection: Transmog collection has been a thing ever since the start of it all. Luckily for seasoned tabard fashionistas, these tabards are easily obtainable
- Ensemble: Awakened Ambassador’s Uniform
- Cost: 3000 Flame-Blessed Iron
- Reason for selection: Like the previously mentioned transmog sets, this is a recolor of a faction’s main set–this time, the Honorary Councilmember’s Mandate has been given a fresh look
- Awakened Supply Crate
- Cost: 750 Flame-Blessed Iron
- Reason for selection: It’s a toy that lets you search through a series of items for no good reason, but this one is flavored towards Earthen themes and exploration. That’s a good enough reason to purchase it, for sure
- Redeployment Module
- Cost: 750 Flame-Blessed Iron
- Reason for selection: Hearthstones can be useful and visually interesting at the same time with this titan-themed portal toy! Note that it does not act as a new hearthstone, merely as a visual change

Taljori sells a lot of transmogs, so be sure to see him for the full list!
Grouping the methods for acquisition by playstyle will make obtaining the rewards above a headache-free process, so that’s what this article has done. It is strongly encouraged that you read through all of the methods, as many have overlapped and thus were listed in multiple groups. Now put on your favorite show, get some friends, or prepare to pull an all-nighter…’cause it’s farming time!
Our categories are as follows.
- Grinding through kills
- Best for movie enjoyers with spare time and a spare monitor (or any program that will keep your movie on top of your screen while you play)
- Grinding through excavations
- Best for off-brand pomodoro technique enjoyers, where it gets warped from 25 minutes of work and 5 minutes of play to a semi-unpredictable, chaotic schedule
- Questing
- Best for those who want to be productive while queueing for raids, battlegrounds, or dungeons
- Exploration
- Best for people with a lot of free time who love to wander
And the methods for each category, if you’ll give an overly dramatic drumroll?
Grinding through kills involves, well, killing mobs! Finding an area with good density or getting some friends to help hyperspawn mobs will make this process easier for you.
- Normal mobs
- 1 to 3 Flame-Blessed Iron
- Elite mobs
- 5 to 15 Flame-Blessed Iron
- Rare mobs
- 80 to 100 Flame-Blessed Iron
- Overflowing Bag of Iron
- 500 Flame-Blessed Iron
- Extremely low drop rate item that can be looted from any mob in Siren Isle
Grinding through excavations is a good option for those who are doing another activity that requires full attention but can be paused for breaks. This can include anything from studying to playing a single-player game. Excavations will be covered next in this article, but the idea for this method of Flame-Blessed Iron grinding is to simply wait for one to occur with the contributions of other players on your shard, pause what you were doing, join in, reap your rewards, and then continue your prior activity.
- First boss kill of the day
- 150 to 200 Flame-Blessed Iron
- Subsequent boss kills per day
- 80 to 100 Flame-Blessed Iron
- Crate of Bygone Riches
- Amount of Flame-Blessed Iron varies greatly but is typically small
- Looted after completing an event
- Overflowing Bag of Iron
- 500 Flame-Blessed Iron
- Extremely low drop rate item that can be looted from any mob in Siren Isle, including these bosses
Questing is an easy option for anyone who does not enjoy the traditional feel of grinding. Quests that can be completed once per toon are a good source of Flame-Blessed Iron for newcomers, but the following weekly quests will give you a boost of 200 Flame-Blessed Iron.
- Three Heads of the Deep
- Crystal Crusade
- Ruffled Pages
- Beach Comber
Finally, you can loot Flame-Blessed Iron from treasure chests which can be found all throughout Siren Isle. Some of these chests are hidden and must be approached to become lootable. When you wander near a hidden chest, a gust of wind will guide you to it, allowing you to press the extra action button and loot the chest. Most chests will contain between 30-70 Flame-Blessed Iron. This method, exploring, will be best done alongside other in-game activities, as it is quite inefficient by itself.
Majorly Important Major Excavations
The aforementioned Major Excavations were initially presented as a way of gaining Flame-Blessed Iron. While this is not wholly inaccurate–in fact, you are guaranteed to profit from it, regardless of how much currency you spend to do so–Major Excavations also cost Flame-Blessed Iron. In the center of Flotsam Shoal, a command table can be found. Here, you can contribute towards your chosen event, with the potential reward listed below the appropriate header upon interaction. Each contribution is five Flame-Blessed Iron, and each event requires thirty contributions. Therefore, you’ll need 150 Flame-Blessed Iron to trigger the event yourself. As a world event, though, any player on your shard can contribute to your benefit.
Once an event is triggered, a marker on the world map will show players what’s going down. Three minutes are provided for the excavation to begin in earnest and for players wishing to participate to show up. After the team of excavators has the area cleared, a unique rare foe will spawn. Players will have to slay this boss to reap their rewards. A five-minute cooldown timer will start upon the event’s completion, after which it can be repeated.
A Farewell to Arms…Nope, Concluding Thoughts
Ignore the above brain misfiring. In Siren Isle, players can explore a mysterious and dangerous island after completing some introductory quests. Once players are settled in, a plethora of activities and challenges await them. Flame-blessed iron will fuel the collector’s spirits and Major Excavations. Major Excavations will, in turn, fuel Flame-Blessed Iron hoarders and bloodlust for slaying enemies. Various weekly quests and phases await those who dare to tackle this new endgame zone of World of Warcraft: The War Within. There’s no need to delay your journey. Get out there and discover what has become of this old Azerite hotspot years after the Fourth War!
