What is the X-01 Power Armor in Fallout 76?

Power Armors, in general, provide great boosts to defense, immunity to fall damage, and increased carrying capacity, among other things. It's a great addition to your usual equipment, but be prepared for its drawbacks. Each part of the armor has its own health bar and will have to be repaired periodically. If broken, a part goes back into the inventory and has to be fixed at a power armor station. You can't craft or use furniture while wearing one or when underwater, you can only move at a walking pace.

However, the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages, and there is no better power armor than the X-01 set. It's the best power armor that can be found in various spawn points around the wasteland, though it'll still be quite rare.

One set of power armor is made up of five parts: helmet, torso, arms, legs, and chassis. If you find an armor, you can opt to take the parts and just leave the chassis. Otherwise, you can take everything by getting in the power armor to move elsewhere. The armor can be upgraded with extra functionalities, some of which will be described next.

Power Armor Upgrades

• X-01 Kinetic Dynamo transforms damage into AP (Action Points). Applies to the torso.
• X-01 Medic Pump shows where you're hit and uses a stimpak when health is sufficiently low. Applies to the torso.
• X-01 Recon Sensors mark sighted enemies with a compass pip. Applies to the helmet.
• X-01 Blood Cleanser reduces the chance to get addicted to drugs. Applies to the torso as well.
• X-01 Optimized Servos reduces AP cost for sprinting. Applies to the legs.
• X-01 VATS Matrix Overlay increases VATS hit chance. Also applies to the helmet.

There are more than these, such as the Stealth Boy upgrade for the arms. It will render you invisible for a time, helping you sneak through enemies. Upgrading the pieces of armor will cost more materials so make sure you get the right one. As each part can hold only one upgrade, make sure to choose wisely.

Where to find Fallout 76 X-01 Power Armor?

There is no single X-01 power armor location. It can spawn on power armor frames scattered about Appalachia. There are 17 spots in the Forest, 5 in the Toxic Valley, 15 in the Ash Heap, 21 in the Savage Divide, 9 in the Mire, and 21 in Cranberry Bog. Describing the exact locations will take a long time, so get exploring! It's more interesting to find out where they are by yourself.

Each of these frames has a chance to spawn an X-01 armor. Only a chance though, as it is more likely that a different power armor spawns or nothing at all. Be wary of frames near or in Raider bases, because raider power armors are most likely to spawn there.

A prototype X-01 armor may be crafted after you download blueprints from the command center armory at the Whitespring Congressional Bunker. It has the same stats as a found armor set, so this is a viable way to get it. That is if you have the materials to craft it.
