Warframe Neurodes Farm Guide

Some resources in Warframe seem to pop up everywhere: Rubedo, Salvage, Ferrite—it isn’t challenging to gather them in the tens of thousands. But then some resources barely seem to drop anywhere, and when they do, they only seem to drop one or two at a time! Neurodes are a rare resource; gathering them can be a real pain. Fortunately, this guide will tell you how to get Neurodes in Warframe and hopefully make your farming much more efficient.

The Uses of Neurodes

Neurodes are a component in many Warframes parts and weapons, but their most common use is in cosmetic helmets for your Warframes. And, since fashion frame is Warframe’s true endgame, this makes them a valuable resource indeed. The good news is that these blueprints rarely require more than five Neurodes, so you don’t need to collect them in the thousands as you do with other resources.

Where to Find Neurodes in Warframe

First of all, you have to know where to find Neurodes. Neurodes can be found on Earth, Eris, the Orokin Derelict, and Lua. However, unlike other shared resources, Neurodes rarely drop from most enemies, so collecting them isn’t simply mowing down as many baddies as possible. On Earth, your best bet may be to search out Neuroptic Masses—resource containers resembling lumpy, tentacled pods with bright spots all over them—to break open. Doing so will yield one or two Neurodes apiece.

You can make your hunt for Neuroptic Masses a lot easier by equipping a loot-finding mod such as Thief’s Wit or Loot Detector, which will cause all loot containers to appear as small icons on your map. Even regular loot containers have a chance of dropping single Neurodes, though the probability is relatively low. If treasure hunts aren’t your thing, you can also collect Neurodes as drops from some more formidable enemies—though make sure you’ve got the firepower first!

The Best Missions to Do When Farming Neurodes

By far, the best mission for farming Neurodes is Plato (Lua), but keep in mind that you need to be well-leveled, have a full squad with you, and have an excellent loadout to succeed in getting through the mission. The Lua make cause some difficulty here and there. Still, farming Neurodes via the Sentinel enemies is a surefire way to obtain the precious resource—this isn’t something you can often say for this component.

If you’re still in the early stages of the game, then perhaps the Dark Sector Excavation missions from Earth (Tikal) should be your primary choice. Farming Neurodes in this mission is relatively easy since the enemies are level 6-16. Additionally, Tikal uses the Grineer Forest tileset, making it suitable for most players. Since the enemies won’t cause too much trouble, you can opt to bring a loadout, including unranked weapons.

Which Enemies Are Most Likely to Drop Neurodes?

One of the enemies more likely to drop Neurodes is Sentients, which you can farm on Lua after completing The Second Dream questline. Sentients usually spawn in pairs during Lua missions, but be aware: Sentients can adapt to your damage types and have an arsenal of high-powered attacks, so make sure you go with a team or at least a formidable frame-weapon combo.

Excalibur Umbra, obtainable from the Sacrifice quest, is specifically designed to take down Sentients and may be a wise choice of Warframe for the job. It may also help to tackle them with a Nekros present, as Nekros’s “Desecrate” ability will cause slain Sentients to drop more loot, increasing the chances of dropping Neurodes.

An even more reliable way of collecting Neurodes is to run Orokin Derelict Assassination missions, which will pit you against Lephantis, a three-headed Infested boss. Lephantis has a chance of dropping Neurodes or Orokin Cells for every head you kill and at the very end of its boss fight, meaning it has four chances of dropping Neurodes.

This usually averages out to 1-2 Neurodes per run. However, this can be a costlier method of collecting Neurodes, as fighting Lephantis requires you to craft a Derelict Assassination key from five Lephantis Nav Coordinates, rare resources in themselves. Still, if you have them, this can be one of the most dependable ways to collect Neurodes and Orokin Cells.

Other Ways to Get Neurodes In Warframe

If you’ve got better things to do than chase down Neurodes, there are a couple of ways to get them that require comparatively little effort. The first is to deploy Extractors to Earth, Lua, or Eris. Extractors come in both Titan Extractor and Distilling Extractor varieties and can be deployed to planets where all mission nodes have been unlocked. The Extractors then spend several hours accumulating resources in the background, regardless of whether or not they’re online. Titan Extractors extract for four hours, while Distilling Extractors extract for eight, with Distilling Extractors possessing a higher likelihood of collecting rare resources such as Neurodes.

You can purchase the blueprints for these Extractors for 50,000 credits from the in-game Market, build them in your Foundry, and then deploy them by clicking the “Deploy Extractor” button in the bottom right corner of your chosen planet. After four or eight hours, you can collect whatever resource they’ve accumulated, which hopefully means Neurodes.

A more reliable method of getting Neurodes in Warframe is to look up “Neurodes” in Warframe’s in-game Market. You’ll see an option to buy them for 10 Platinum a pop (a terrible deal if you ask me) and an option to buy a “blueprint” for 100 Platinum. This blueprint is reusable and will allow you to craft as many Neurodes as you want at the cost of 15,000 credits, 50,000 Alloy Plate, 50,000 Nano Spores, and 25,000 Salvage, plus an hour of build time, per Neurodes. What could be better than a guaranteed Neurodes per hour?… As long as you can shell out the 100 platinum needed to buy the blueprint, of course.

Nabbing Those Neurodes

There’s no doubt about it; farming in Warframe can be a frustrating experience. But hopefully, with these tips from our How to Get Neurodes in Warframe guide, at least farming this rare resource might be a little less headache-inducing. Keep at it, and you’ll gather enough Neurodes to outfit all your frames with the most fashionable headwear available—and possibly a few new weapons.
