Teemo Build & Rune Guide

Teemo Guide

Hailing from Bander City, Teemo is a little Yordle who is renowned for being one of the most annoying champions in LoL. He is a unique specialist champ who does not fall into any box, utilizing various distinctive ways of damaging enemies, which undeniably are very effective. This agile and reliable DOT mage swiftly takes down his targets with his magic abilities and toxins without getting caught.

How To Play Teemo In League Of Legends

On the scale of difficulty level, Teemo is one of the easier champions to play with. His play style is simple and is based on damage over time. He mostly deals damage to enemies with his basic attacks with passive on-hit effects. So, if you are a beginner, you’ll find Teemo pretty fun to play with.

Unlike many champions, Teemo can deal substantial magic damage to enemies by poisoning them. If used right, his Q>W>E combo can cause severe damage to enemy minions and champions. The R ability allows him to plant poisonous mushrooms, which become invisible after a second. When triggered by enemies, these mushrooms release a cloud of poisonous gases, causing magic damage to enemies.

How Do Teemo’s Abilities Work?

When it comes to teamwork, Teemo is more of a lone wolf who excels elsewhere. With his W, Teemo can passively increase his movement speed which can distract enemies. Other team members can utilize this distraction to kill enemies. So if you enjoy annoying enemies and at the same time want to help your teammates, you should always pick Teemo.

Being a top lane champ, Teemo can cast high levels of damage on his enemies. Although his mana and health reduce very quickly, he is still a good pick for top-lane players.

Guerilla Warfare (Passive)

Teemo’s passive ability is one of the best passives in LoL. This ability allows him to become invisible for as long as he wants, given that he remains idle. Moreover, this ability performs better when he is in the brush. There he can stay invisible while moving, which allows him to move around and confuse the enemy team.

When the stealth breaks, Teemo gains extra attack speed, which allows him to inflict more damage on the enemies.

Blinding Dart (Q)

This ability is very advantageous when you are trying to hide from enemies. Upon pressing Q, Teemo throws a venomous dart at the enemy that blinds their vision and turns it green for 2-3 seconds. During the duration, players can use another ability to damage their enemy, or if their health is low, they can run to a safe zone to recall themselves.

This ability is more effective on minions and monsters. The effect of blinding increases by two, giving you extra time for cooldown.

Move Quick (W)

Teemo is an agile champion known for his fast movement and attack speeds. If you like playing fast-paced matches, you should put this ability on your top-ten list. The active Move Quick ability allows Teemo to gain movement speed up to 52% for three seconds.

But that's not all because Teemo’s passive Move Quick ability also increases his movement speed, given he does not get damaged by an enemy or a turret.

Toxic Shot (E)

Toxic Shot passively empowers Teemo’s basic attacks. These basic attacks are enhanced with venom, which upon hitting the enemy, inflicts poison. The first hit of Toxic Shot will consume the Manflow Band of the target enemy, leaving them with no mana backup. When projected on monsters, these shots cause increased damage by 150%, killing them almost instantly.

Noxious Trap (R)

This ability damages multiple enemies at the same time. Using Noxious Trap, Teemo can set up mushroom-shaped traps by throwing them onto the target location. After one second of casting, these traps become invisible to the enemies, leaving them vulnerable to poison.

Upon enemy contact, these mushrooms explode and emit poison to the nearby enemies. Not only does the poison slow them down, but reveals the location. If the mushroom lands on an already set trap, it bounces forward in the cast direction until it finds space.

Teemo’s Build Path (Items + Runes)

Items and runes are vital for any champion. They enhance the champion’s abilities and help them survive longer in the game. Various combinations of items and runes are available online, but we have made this perfect combination that will help you win your matches.

Items

Starting Items: Doran’s Ring should be your first item pick. Because Teemo has a low ability to absorb damage, Doran’s Ring will help him restore mana every second. It also helps him cause additional damage to the minions, helping you gain extra gold. If you damage an enemy, the mana restoration speeds up, giving you an extra chance to take down the enemy.

Core Items: Nashor’s Tooth and Riftmaker should be followed next for the core items. Both of these items increase AP and Ability haste, which help you to deal additional magic damage on the enemy targets.

Nashor’s Tooth provides you with 50% extra attack speed and also applies magic damage on-hit

Boots: Berserker’s Greaves are the best boots for Teemo. They not only increase move speed by 45 but also enhance his attack speed by 35%, making it near impossible to get damaged.

Situational Items: Demonic Embrace, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Void Staff, and Zhonya’s Hourglass should be taken later in the match. Demonic Embrace and Rabadon’s Deathcap surges AP, allowing players to do magic damage throughout the game.

Whereas Void Staff not only increases AP but also increases magic penetration by 40%. Upon activation, Zhonya’s Hourglass makes players invincible but unable to perform any attacks.

Runes

Primary: Press The Attack should be your first choice of runes. It increases AD from 40-180 when they get thrice hit by an attack. For six seconds, enemies take 8-12% increased damage, making them vulnerable to AD. Triumph should be followed next. On every takedown, it restores 55 of your missing health along with 2.5% of your max health and grants additional twenty gold.

Legend: Alacrity and Last Stand should be picked as final runes. Last Stand allows you to deal 5-11% increased damage to the enemy champions while your health is below 60%.

Secondary: Bone Plating and Overgrowth should be picked as Teemo’s secondary runes. After being hit once by the enemy, bone plating reduces damage by 30-60 from the upcoming three spells or attacks; by the enemy. This rune is very helpful when and should be taken as Teemo has high mana consumption.

Overgrowth allows you to absorb life essence from monsters and minions. On absorbing essence from 8, you gain 3 permanent health. On absorbing essence from 120 monsters or minions, you get 3.5 permanent health.

Final Thoughts

Overall, Teemo is a powerful marksman champion with potent poison abilities. If you know how to use his abilities and utilize his passive abilities correctly, you can take down enemy champions in no time without them ever knowing your location.
