Mythic Unique Gear is an integral part of progression in Diablo 4. It's a crucial step in every player's journey and is often regarded as a cornerstone of most meta builds. Before S13, getting Mythic Uniques (Purples/Ubers) was extremely difficult. Luckily, with recent changes, it has become significantly easier.
Mythic Unique Changes
The Lord of Hatred expansion has changed how Mythic Uniques function. These items will always have fixed Affixes, but won't always drop at their maximum values. Mythic Uniques also have a chance of dropping with Greater Affixes indicated by the stars in the item's name, with each star representing the number of Greater Affixes on the item. This massive change makes build-crafting much more consistent with clear item goals that players can work towards. Best Methods for Farming Mythics
Before getting started, Mythic gear is only obtainable on Torment I or higher. The chances of obtaining Mythics increase as you increase your torment level. So if you're wondering why you aren't getting any Mythic items, make sure to check your difficulty.
Lair Boss Nemesis Farming with Two by Two
By far the best and fastest way to farm for Mythics is by doing Lair Boss runs with the Two by Two augment found in your War Plans. After defeating the initial boss of a dungeon and opening the reward chest, there is a chance for a Nemesis Portal to appear. In this portal are 2 Initiate Lair Bosses that you need to fight at the same time, but also defeating them grants you 2 chests that you can open. Players have found great success doing this, with many players reporting that chests will occasionally drop more than one Mythic Unique gear.
Players can take this even further by upgrading their War Plans tree by unlocking the Greater Nemesis node, as well as the Ultimate Nemesis node. The Greater Nemesis upgrade functions similarly to Two by Two, but instead of facing 2 Initiate Lair Bosses, players will have to defeat 2 Greater Lair Bosses.
The Ultimate Nemesis upgrade is especially rewarding as defeating the boss grants players 10 Hoard Chests worth of loot. However, it is extremely difficult as the monsters within the lair will have +5 Monster Power. But players who can clear this difficult task are rewarded with loot beyond measure.
Kurast Undercity with Mythic Tributes (Ascendance, Armaments, etc.)
Undercity runs have always been a great option for obtaining Mythic Unique gear with some consistency. But with the recent update, these runs have spawned insane clips of players getting upwards of 5 Mythic Unique gear in one run. These crazy clips are all thanks to the War Plans upgrades.
The Undercity tree of the War Plans system has some upgrades that turn each run into a veritable loot buffet. On the left side of the tree, players can path towards a node called Gutter Filth. Taking this upgrade essentially spawns a mini-loot goblin called a Portal Prankster whenever you interact with Beacons during your Undercity runs. This perk, while great, is a mere stepping stone for the actual reason behind insane amounts of loot, and it's called Trials and Tribulations.
Trials and Tribulations grants players the chance to open Tribute Chests. These chests spawn upon slaying a District Boss, and the number of chests is determined by how many Portal Pranksters are slain.
However, this method does come with some strings attached. Opening Tribute Chests requires Tributes, the same item used before entering the Undercity. Most players won't have a large hoard of these items, but for those who do, this method for farming uniques is extremely lucrative. Players can also use Amalgamate crafting in the Horadric Cube to upgrade lower-tier Tributes into the next tier for better rewards.
Mythic Crafting with Jeweler and Horadric Cube
The last method would be using the Jeweler to craft specific Mythic Uniques. The Jeweler is an NPC who can craft Mythic Uniques using Runecrafting. However simple it might seem, getting the required number and type of rune is much more difficult. Crafting a Mythic Unique requires 6 runes from each rarity tier; this brings the total amount of runes required up to 18.
Thankfully, the Horadric Cube is a massive help in this endeavor, thanks to Runecrafting options and Amalgamation. Runecrafting with the Horadric Cube lets you craft specific runes at the cost of any 5 Legendary and 5 Rare Runes plus 1 Magic Rune. Doing this takes RNG out of the equation, letting players get the specific Runes they need for crafting. Alternatively, players can also use Amalgamation crafting to upgrade lesser-tier runes into the next tier at a conversion rate of 5:1.
