What quest progress is needed for the diary?

You'll be doing a lot of quests while finishing up the Kandarin Diary, including The Chosen Commander, Kings' Ransom (and the Knight Waves Training Grounds), Swan Song, and Desert Treasure I.

How does the bolt activation bonus work?

Once the Hard Diary is finished, the 10% bonus is passive and permanent. For example, if a bolt has a base 10% chance to proc, the diary increases that to 11%. Players focused on ranged combat should prioritize completing the diary.

Is any specific mini-game participation required?

Yes, there are a number of activities players will need to take on, including mini-games like Barbarian Assault (reaching level 5 in all roles for the Elite tier), earning points in the Nightmare Zone, and catching fish using Barbarian Fishing techniques.
