Aion 2 has over 8 classes: Templar, Gladiator, Assassin, Ranger, Spirit Master, Sorcerer, Chanter, and Cleric. Each class fills the tank, healer, or DPS role, but Aion 2's combat classes center on a core gameplay loop. To define each class and show what makes it unique, this guide walks you through all of Aion 2's classes and mechanics.
Templar
⚔️Role: Tank
Templars are Aion 2's main tank class, with access to the most aggro-generating skills in the game, plus defensive cooldowns to help mitigate incoming damage. This class primarily has front-positional damage skills and access to teamwide buff skills that increase the party's DPS.
Their main gameplay loop is constantly drawing aggro from the boss and controlling where they stand, making positional damage skill uptimes easier for melee DPS players. On harder content, Templars are the most sought-after class.
Gladiator
⚔️Role: Tank / DPS
Gladiators are another tank class, but they have access to DPS skills and rank higher on the damage parse list than Templars. They work best as off-tanks, since they generate less aggro and bring team buffs. Gladiators can still hold their own as main tanks, with respectable cooldowns and lifesteal on hits, and are easy to pick up and learn.
Assassin
⚔️Role: Melee DPS
Being the only melee DPS at launch, the Assassin has the highest damage ceiling. This class contains many positional attack skills, gap closers, and access to cooldown reduction to maintain maximum DPS uptime. It is a risky class that requires staying up close in melee and dodging boss attack patterns, but it is extremely rewarding once mastered.
With a high skill floor and even higher skill ceiling, Assassins are one of the top DPS picks in the game.
Ranger
⚔️Role: Ranged DPS
The Ranger class is a safe, consistent DPS class that focuses on dealing damage at range. It is one of the easier DPS classes, as Rangers don't need to worry about dishing out damage rotations in melee with positional requirements. While its DPS is on the lower end, the Ranger class is safe enough to beat every endgame challenge without much difficulty.
Spirit Master
⚔️Role: Magic DPS
The Spirit Master summons pets, or spirits, to deal damage. This class has a mechanic where each spirit represents an element. Only one spirit can be summoned at a time, but each summon grants an elemental stack, leading to a high-damage nuke spell once you gain 4 elemental stacks. Spirit Masters can also apply DoTs and buff themselves to push their DPS even higher.
It has a high skill ceiling, requiring perfect execution of its damage rotation to get every spirit out and fuel its nuke spells, but it can also be a top DPS class if mastered.
Sorcerer
⚔️Role: Magic DPS
Sorcerers cast spells with high cooldowns and cast times, but their damage also makes them a powerful burst DPS option. Many of their strongest spells have a cast time, which you can cancel by moving. One unique aspect of Sorcerer is that some of its main rotational spells reduce the cooldown of larger damage spells, making it a highly dynamic, combo-heavy class.
Chanter
⚔️Role: Support
Despite being labeled a support, the Chanter is a hybrid class with supportive abilities like buffs and healing spells, plus solid DPS rotations. While their healing output is decent, much of their power comes from teamwide buffs that boost damage and critical hit rate. They also have strong self-sustain options, which makes them a good class for soloing content.
Cleric
⚔️Role: Support
Clerics are the main healer class, focusing on regenerating the party's health as much as possible. They have the best utility spells, including a battle rez, invulnerability cooldown, and debuff cleansing to keep the party alive as long as possible. Clerics can also heal the entire party with either burst healing or passive AoE health regeneration. For many parties, a Cleric is a must-have for all content, especially raids.
