AION 2 has 8 classes to choose from, each with unique strengths and weaknesses that affect how they perform in different types of content. Some classes excel in PvP, while others suit PvE or group play better. If you want to know which class to start with or which one to pick for a second character, here is the AION 2 best class tier list.
Ranking Criteria
AION 2 offers a wide variety of content, and some activities require more specialized classes. However, this tier list ranks all 8 classes based on PvP, PvE, and general gameplay.
AION 2 Class Tier List
S-Tier Explanations
Gladiator
Gladiators are frontline melee units that deal consistent DPS while chaining CC effects on enemies. Their skill set is easy to understand, making them relatively simple to build and play. They perform best with high-tempo attacks and are one of the strongest solo choices.
Ranger
Rangers are an S-tier class thanks to their range and diverse yet simple skill set. They offer straightforward damage along with several skills that help keep enemies at a distance. Proper positioning and kiting can make short work of PvP opponents, while their range makes PvE encounters much easier to manage.
Sorcerer
Sorcerers have insane burst damage and strong CC chains, along with a wide variety of skills that give them options for almost any situation. However, their damage comes with a major weakness, as Sorcerers are extremely vulnerable. Players who can position properly and cast their spells safely can still decimate enemy teams.
A-Tier Explanations
Spiritmaster
Spiritmasters are arguably the best pick for PvE-focused players, offering consistent DPS, sustain, and CC. They can also summon spirits that draw enemy aggro away from the player, making PvE content much easier to manage. However, their reliance on summons makes them less effective in PvP, where spirits have relatively low health, and the class depends heavily on them for damage and protection.
Assassin
Assassins are one of the best picks for PvP thanks to their immense single-target damage and strong mobility. They excel at eliminating vulnerable, immobile targets like Sorcerers and support classes while also chasing down fleeing Rangers. However, their focus on single-target burst damage makes them less effective for PvE content.
B-Tier Explanations
Templar
Templars are the only dedicated tank class in AION 2. They are extremely durable and can provide significant buffs and shields, making them an excellent choice for filling a team role in both PvE and PvP. However, their low damage and slow clear times make them a poor choice for solo players.
Cleric
Clerics are a support-and-melee-DPS hybrid that can perform both roles effectively. The class has surprisingly good damage output alongside useful buffs, making Clerics valuable teammates when a group needs a support player. Paired with a Templar, their sustain and durability can create a highly durable duo.
C-Tier Explanations
Chanter
Chanters struggle because they offer little that sets them apart from other classes. Clerics and Templars offer more utility, while other classes are stronger DPS choices. Their skill rotation also takes time to learn and master, and their damage is not high enough to clear endgame content efficiently on their own, making them heavily reliant on dedicated groups.
