Season of Discovery Rune Locations and How to Get Them

Runes became Season of Discovery’s prime feature as many players have flocked to this game version to try different builds with their classes. These stones are numerous and can ultimately be quite a task to collect. However, it is a good idea to have all of them in your inventory so that you can experiment and try out different setups to see which one is the best. This guide will provide players with the location of all the runes for each class.

General Locations and How to Get Each Class Runes

Runes are available for any class to use, but for easier identification, categorizing them based on their job origins will help gamers find them more easily. Some of these stones are harder to obtain, while some will require you to buy them. Here is how to get the currently available runes in Season of Discovery:

Druid Runes Location

Living Seed
- Slot: Chest
- Level Requirement: 2
- Location: Teldrassil and Mulgore
- How to Find: For both locations, players must create a Glade Crown (3 Glade Flower) and use it on a Wooden Effigy, spawning an Unleashed Nature Spirit. The Rune will be available after killing the mob.
Fury of Stormrage
- Slot: Chest
- Level Requirement: 4
- Location: Teldrassil and Mulgore
- How to Find: Alliance players need to do a quest called The Woodland Protector. Horde players must loot a chest (61, 76) in Brambleblade Ravine. Both activities will reward the Lunar Idol, which will turn into the rune after killing six enemies while affected by Moonfire.
Sunfire
- Slot: Gloves
- Level Requirement: 4
- Location: Teldrassil and Mulgore
- How to Find: Alliance players in Teldrassil need to cast Moonfire on three Lunar Stones at (52.8, 79.8), while Horde members in Mulgore need to do it on the Lunar Stones at (35.72, 69.61) to spawn a Lunar Chest containing the rune.
Lifebloom
- Slot: Legs
- Level Requirement: 7
- Location: Teldrassil and Mulgore
- How to Find: Alliance players need to look for a Skeleton at (33, 35), while Horde members need to find the Adventurer’s Remains at (60, 33). Before anyone starts the ritual, gamers are advised to bring along as many people as they can for the loot. A mob will spawn after interacting with the remains, dropping the rune for every person who participated in the fight.
Mangle
- Slot: Gloves
- Level Requirement: 10
- Location: Teldrassil and Mulgore
- How to Find: This rune is dropped by Rageclaws in Teldrassil and Flatland Prowlers in Mulgore.
Wild Strikes
- Slot: Chest
- Level Requirement: 14
- Location: Stonetalon Mountains
- How to Find: It can be dropped from any level 14-15 Grimtotem mobs like the Grimtotem Ruffian and Grimtotem Sorcerer.
Lacerate
- Slot: Gloves
- Level Requirement: 15
- Location: Loch Modan, Darkshore, and Barrens
- How to Find: In Loch Modan, feed the thresher with Rainbow Fin Albacore Chum, which can be bought from Khara Deepwater. In Darkshore, provide the Young Reef Crawler with Crab Treats from Furlbogs or fishing. In the Barrens, get an Abandoned Snapjaw Egg at the nest at (44, 22) and then bring it to the Empty Snapjaw Nest at (48, 40 at Lushwater Oasis. Doing these activities will reward you with the rune.
Skull Bash
- Slot: Legs
- Level Requirement: 15
- Location: Azeroth Commerce Authority and Durotar Supply and Logistics
- How to Find: This rune can be bought for two golds after reaching Friendly with each Supply Faction.
Savage Roar
- Slot: Legs
- Level Requirement: 20
- Location: Darkshore, Loch Modan, Westfall, and The Barrens
- How to Find: The rune can be obtained after using the Idol to deal 20 bleed damage on Humanoids, unlocking the Rune. To get the rune, players can kill the Den Mother in Darkshore, an elite plant outside Mo’grosh Stronghold cavern in Loch Modan, Riverpaw Gnolls in Westfall, and centaurs in The Barrens to open Kolkar’s Booty.
Survival of the Fittest
- Slot: Chest
- Level Requirement: 20
- Location: Grizzby (NPC) in Ratchet Inn
- How to Find: Players need to finish the Shredder Turbochargers, Dark Iron Ordinance, and Fish Oil quests to be eligible to purchase the rune.
Starsurge
- Slot: Legs
- Level Requirement: 20
- Location: Wetlands
- How to Find: Go towards a Dwarf (35, 14) and interact with him to get a Marshrom. Afterward, speak with a Frog sitting on a stump in a pond (31, 18) to get the Rune)
Wild Growth
- Slot: Gloves
- Level Requirement: 20
- Location: Moonglade
- How to Find: Players must complete the Trials of The Owls from Loganaar to get this rune. However, gamers need one copy each of the Symbol of the First Owl, Symbol of the Second Owl, and Symbol of the Third Owl to accept the mission.

Hunter Runes Location

Chime Shot

- How to Find: You can get this by killing Frostman Troll during the Trek Through the Caves quest in Dun Morogh, Githyiss the Vile during the A Hunter’s Strength quest in Teldrassil, Scorpid Worker in either Hunt for the Rune or Rugged Terrain quests in Durotar, or a Bristleback Battleboar in A Hunger’s Strength Quest in Mulgore.
Explosive Shot

- How to Find: You can loot this rune from Fyodi in Dun Morogh, Rageclaw in Teldrassil, Sarkoth in Durotar, and Arra’chea in Mulgore.
Master Marksman
- Slot: Chest
- Level Requirement: 6
- Location: Dun Morogh, Teldrassil, Durotar, and Mulgore
- How to Find: Players must slay a Poacher mob after using the Hunter’s Mark on a Rustling Bush. Gamers can find bushes on the following: Dun Morogh (29, 49), Teldrassil (46.6, 46.3), Durotar (38, 52), and Mulgore (59.02, 54.38).
Flanking Strikes
- Slot: Legs
- Level Requirement: 8
- Location: Dun Morogh, Teldrassil, Durotar, and Mulgore
- How to Find: You can get run by killing Jorul after summoning it with Dun Morogh Pig Meat on (37.9, 42.5), Mowgh after calling it with Teldrassil Bird Meat on (48.3, 31.4), Raluk after summoning it with Durotar Pig Meat on (68.7, 71.4), or Mokwa after calling it with Mulgore Bird Meat on (36, 57).
Carve

- How to Find: You get this rune after talking to Toby at Amberstill Ranch after taming a Rabbit with Rabbit Musk in Dun Morogh, to Relaeron in Darnassus after taming a Deer with Deer Musk, to Razzil in Razor Hill after taming an Adder with Adder Pheromone, or to Takoda Sunmane in Mulgore after taming a Praire Dog with Prairie Dog Musk.
Beast Mastery

- How to Find: You can get the rune after killing the Silverspur in Westfall after summoning it with Goretusk Haunch at a Coyote Dwelling on (32.8, 35.9), feeding a Young Reef Crawler with Crab Treats obtained from Furbolgs on Darkshore (38.66, 56.89), interacting with the trophy case next to Daryl the Youngling on Loch Modan (83.4, 65.2), slay the Grizzled Protector after killing many Ferocious Grizzled Bear in Silverpine Forest, and by looting a Patrolling Cheetah on The Barrens (44.4, 55.4).
Serpent Spread

- How to Find: You can buy this rune from both factions after reaching a Friendly reputation with either faction.
Lone Wolf

- How to Find: Players must complete the following quests before buying from Grizzly: Shredder Turbochargers, Dark Iron Ordinance, and Fish Oil.
Kill Command
- Slot: Legs

- Location: Stonetalon Mountain
- How to Find: Complete the Wild Wyvern Wrangling quest from Jixo Madrocket in Stonetalon Mountain (59.20, 64.41). The quest will reward you with the rune and a Young Pridewing.
Sniper Training

- Location: Darkshore, Westfall, Loch Modan, and The Barrens
- How to Find: In Darkshore, you can get the rune by killing Paxnozz in (48, 15) after harpooning it with a Gnarled Harpoon obtained from dead turtles at (47.8, 16). You can also get Sniper Training by killing Defias Scout in Westfall or Kackle in Loch Modan. In the Barrens, you can get the rune by killing Bruuz after damaging it with a Fishing Harpoon from Kilxx by the docks in Ratchet.
Heart of the Lion

- How to Find: Slaying Carrodin at (42.2, 64.1) in the Thelgen Rock Cave in the Wetlands will reward the rune.
Cobra Strike
- Slot: Chest
- Level Requirement: 25
- Location: Hillsbrad Foothills
- How to Find: Players need to kill Koartul southeast of Tarren Mill to get the rune, which can be spawned after using a Freshwater Snapper Bait from Zixil in Hillsbrad Foothills.

Mage Runes Location

In Tirisfal Glades, you must combine the six pages of the Apothecary Notes, which you can obtain after using Polymorph on Odd Melons near Solliden Farmstead.

- How to Find: You can get this rune from Stonesplinter Seers in Loch Modan or by completing the Wand to Bethor questline (Horde only).
Regeneration

- How to Find: You can find this rune by looting a stack of books in the south hut on the northern top island of Loch Modan, Defias Pillager in Westfall, Kolkar’s Booty in the Barrens that requires a Kolkar Booty Key from centaurs, and from Dalaran Apprentices in Silverpine Forest.
Arcane Surge

- How to Find: This rune can be purchased for two golds after getting a Friendly rep with either Supply function.
Arcane Blast

- How to Find: Kill Nagas in Zoram Strand until they drop the “Naga Manuscript.” The tome will give you a riddle regarding the crystals at (13.08, 24.88), (14.08, 19.84), and (13.51, 15.79). You can solve this in this order by using Arcane Explosion on the crystals from South to North.
Icy Veins

- How to Find: You must find ten books spread across Azeroth to get the rune. Both Alliance and Horde get three books that are exclusive to them. Here are all the tomes you need to find to get Icy Veins:

Find a room that has a stone throne. Use the Phylactery on the Slumbering Phones, which will summon an Awakened Lich you must defeat.

Paladin Runes Location

Crusader Strike
- Slot: Globes

- How to Find: You can get this rune after using Judgment 10 times after equipping the Libram of Judgment, which you can get from Frostman Trolls during the Relics of the Light quest. After activating the libram, you will learn Crusader Strike.
Inspiration Exemplar
- Slot: Legs

- How to Find: You can get this rune by summoning and looting an Adventurer’s Spirit after interacting with an Adventurer’s Remains west of Kharanos in Dun Morogh or east of Jerod’s Landing in Elwynn Forest.

- How to Find: You get this rune after asking Bartender Liv Bradford in Stormwind Park and asking, “How’s Business?” This will allow you to fight and defeat the drunk Stuart to receive the skill.
Aegis
- Slot: Chest
- Level Requirement: 8
- Location: Dun Morogh and Elwynn Forest
- How to Find: You can get this rune after using Purify on a Wounded Soldier on the Gnomeregan gates (west of Dun Morogh) or at the Jasperload Mines (Elwynn Forest).
Seal of Martyrdom
- Slot: Chest
- Level Requirement: 10
- Location: Stormwind City
- How to Find: You must perform a series of actions to get this rune. Interact with Brother Romulus in Stormwind Cathedral, then head down via the western stairs to the lowest level and find a note next to the candle on the ledge. Afterward, go to an island at the intersection between Duskwood, Elwynn Forest, and Westfall to fight Ada Gelhardt. After slaying her, you will receive the rune.
Horn of Lordaeron
- Slot: Chest
- Level Requirement: Loch Modan and Westfall
- Location: 10
- How to Find: You receive this rune by blessing five players after looting a Libram of Blessings, which you can find in one of the lower rooms in a tavern in Thelsamar or after killing an Undying Laborer in Jangolode Mine.
Hand of Reckoning

- Level Requirement: 15
- Location: Loch Modan
- How to Find: You receive this rune after killing ten enemies stunned by the Hammer of Justice using the Libram of Justice. You can get this item from Defias Drone in Westfall or a Sunkey Reliquary in Stonespitter Valley Cave.
Beacon of Light

- Level Requirement: 15

- How to Find: You can buy this rune from both factions after reaching a Friendly reputation with either faction.

- How to Find: You can obtain this after using Turn Undead on five enemies and slaying them with Exorcism. However, it would help if you found the Libram of Banishment first, which you can obtain from Defias mobs near Yorgen Farmstead or Raven Hill Cemetery.

Note: You need to have meditation buffs active before you start going around looking for Priest Runes.

Penance

- How to Find: You can get this rune by accepting and completing either one of the Meditation on Light (Dun Morogh or Elwynn Forest), Meditation on Elune (Teldrassil)), Wisdom of the Loa (Durotar), or Meditation on Undeath (Tirisfal Glades) quests.
Void Plague

- How to Find: You can get this as a drop from Leper Gnomes (Dun Morogh), Goldtooth (Elwynn Forest), Kul Tiras Sailor and Kul Tiras Marine (Durotar), Gillgar (Tirisfal Glades), or in a Gnarlpine Cache at the bottom of Ban’ethil Barrow Den in Teldrassil.
Prayer of Mending

- How to Find: You can get it from Frostmane Seer or Shadowcaster in Shimmer Ridge (Dun Morogh), Defias Rogue Wizard on Stonecairn Lake Island (Elwynn Forest), Grells in Fel Rock Cave (Teldrassil), Voodoo Troll near Zalazane (Durotar), and Scarlet Warrior and Missionary near Solliden farmstead (Tirisfal Glades).

Twisted Faith

Location: Darkshore, Loch Modan, Westfall, The Barrens, and Silverpine Forest
How to Find: You can get this rune as a drop from Undying Laborer in Gold Coast Quarry (Westfall) or Wailing Spirits (Silverpine Forest). Alternatively, you also obtain it either by looting an Offering Coin from a Kobold in Silverstream Mine (Loch Modan) and throwing it in a well inside the cave on the left, obtaining a Shatterspear Offering from Nagas (Darkshore) and using it on an underwater statue in Ruins of Mathystra, or get Helping Hand from Razormane mobs (The Barrens) and use resurrection on someone to open the item and get the rune.

Mind Sear

- How to Find: You can buy this rune from both factions after reaching a Friendly reputation with either supply faction.
Serendipity

- How to Find: There are various ways to get the rune: looting a Leprithus (Westfall), doing /kneel at a Heretic Idol in Mo’grosh Stronghold (Loch Modan), interacting with a glowing orb at (30.5, 47.5) (Darkshore), casting Dispel on the Desert Mirage (54.8, 35.6) (Durotar), and looting the table near Thule Ravenclaw on top of the tower in Fenris Isle (Silverpine Forest).
Strength of Soul

- Location: Ashenvale
- How to Find: Use Primal Insight on a dreamcatcher inside a cave past (38, 29) after obtaining the skill from any Thistlefur mob in Ashenvale. The NPC will have two different Meditation buffs active.
Power Word: Barrier
- Slot: Legs
- Level Requirement: 23
- Location: Redridge Mountains
- How to Find: You can learn this rune by getting it as a drop from Blackrock Shadowcasters in Stonewatch (Redridge Mountains) with two unique Meditation buffs active.
Circle of Healing
- Slot: Gloves
- Level Requirement: 25
- Location: Duskwood
- How to Find: Loot a Dark Insight from Defais Night Runner or Enchanter and bring it to a secluded grave at (90, 30) northeast of Darkshire. You need two Meditation buffs while doing this.

Rogue Runes Location

Shadowstrike
- Slot: Gloves
- Level Requirement: 2
- Location: Dun Morogh, Elwynn Forest, Teldrassil, Durotar, and Tirisfal Glades
- How to Find: In Dun Morogh, do the Thrice Stolen quest to inform you that the rune is in the Coldridge Valley caves (30, 80). In Elwynn Forest, the quest will lead you to a chest near the outhouse (52.5, 51.9). In Teldrassil, you must go to the ledge with an owl figurine at (59.70, 42.58). You get the rune after jumping down the ledge and interacting with the owl. In Durotar, you must do the Atop the Cliffs quest, which will require you to open a chest at (43.2, 69.6) on top of a ledge containing the rune.
Quick Draw
- Slot: Chest
- Level Requirement: 8
- Location: Dun Morogh, Elwynn Forest, Teldrassil, Durotar, and Tirisfal Glades
- How to Find: You get this rune by unearthing a chest in a given location after combining four map pieces. There are four chests found in Dun Morogh (46.96, 43.73), Elwynn Forest (80.30, 79.42), Teldrassil (55.33, 90.84), Durotar (62.1, 94.8), and Tirisfal Glades (52.9, 54), and you only need one of them. For the barrens, snatch a Buccaneer’s Matchbox from Southsea pirates and blow it up using a gunpowder bucket (61.78, 45.80).

- How to Find: In Elwynn Forest, you need to get a Powerless Artifact from a Dead Acolyn near Jasperlode Mine. Take it to Maximillian Crowe in Lion’s Pride Inn in Goldshire to receive a Fel-powered Artifact. Return to the Dead Acolyte and use the item to get the Blood Offering. Within 10 minutes, you need to reach Gakin the Darkbinder in the basement of the Slaughtered Lamb to get the rune. The process is the same in Tirisfal Glades, but the Dead Acolyte will be near Scarlet Monastery (76.6, 44.4). Take it to Rupert Boach in the Gallow’s End Tavern in Brill. Do the same steps as the one for Alliance players. The last destination is Carrendin Halgar in the Magic Quarter in Undercity.
Demonic Grace

- How to Find: The steps to get the rune are the same regardless of location. The last step will always be killing Soboz after using the ingredients in specific locations. For Dun Morogh, you must get an Ominous Tome from Frostmane Shadowcaster in a cave west of Brewnall Village. Then, loot Wendigo Blood from Wendigo mobs and Wolf Jawbone from Wolf mobs to summon Soboz in Shimmer Ridge. For Elwynn Forest, you get the tome from Kobolds in Jasperlode Mine, Gnoll Blood from Gnoll Mobs, and Wolf Jawbones from either a Prowler or Wolf. Use these components at The Slaughtered Lamb Inn. For Durotar, get the tome from Voodoo Trolls in Echo Isles, Makrura Leg from Makruras, and Kul Tiran Skull from Kul Tiran mobs. Use the items on a summoning circle near Zalazane to summon Soboz. For Tirisfal Glades, get the tome from Darkeye Bonecasters, Gnoll Blood in Garren’s Haunt, and Wolf Jawbone from any Darkhound. Use the ingredients in the Sewers in Undercity. Make sure not to lose the aggro of Soboz because you need to start from the very beginning if you do.
