The Cycle Frontier Keys and Locations Guide

cycle the frontier

The Cycle: Frontier is a game where acquiring loot while trying to survive in a harsh environment plagued with myriad creatures and hostile Prospectors. When players are inserted into areas to complete their extraction missions, some regions can contain several items. Unfortunately, these locations are locked and will require a specific thing to open. Fortunately for gamers, this guide will cover where they can find the Keys for each zone.

What are Keys and Locations in The Cycle: Frontier?

Keys are items in The Cycle: Frontier that can be used to access various locked rooms on the maps. These areas will contain different loots, which will vary from time to time. Specific keys are needed to unlock certain rooms. Gamers might pick up a Janitor's Key, but they can't use it to open the Observation Room.

Locked locations are highly contested due to the advantage they will give at the start of an incursion. Prospectors would either enter and clear the rooms as fast and as early as possible or wait in ambush to shoot down and steal from players who just came out of these locked vaults.

In The Cycle: Frontier, the main trick is getting to these locations immediately. Getting to these locations early will enable players to set traps for unsuspecting Prospectors. For gamers who want to enter these rooms right away, their main priority is finding the corresponding Key immediately.

The Cycle: Frontier Access Key Locations

The Cycle: Frontier has two maps. These areas will contain multiple locked regions that can be found scattered throughout the layout. These Keys are usually located in areas close to the vaults and rooms.

These items can be found inside Jackets or Safes, making them easy to miss. While there are many Keys of the same type, only one is needed to unlock a Locked Location. Extra Access Items can be sold for 200 Marks.

Players should note that Keys can be acquired from anywhere on the map since they can randomly spawn anywhere. However, searching for Access Items near the areas where the rooms they can open will increase the efficiency of Prospectors. Here are all the Key locations for each zone:

Bright Sands

One of the two currently available maps in the game, Bright Sands, has a difficulty rating of normal. This area has 19 spawn points and 16 evacuation zones scattered throughout the landscape. The map has six available Keys that can open their corresponding Locations. Here are all the existing Access items in Bright Sands:

  • Server Access Key
  • Mine Access Key
  • Tall House Key
  • Armory Key
  • Skeleton Key
  • Bright Sands Observation Room Key

All these Access Items will be located in various places and can be easily missed if players are not thorough in their searches. Here are the specific areas where Prospectors should keep their eyes out the most:

  • Server Access Key
    • The first Access Item can be found near the Comms Tower. Server Access Keys can potentially be looted from jackets in the area. The first two will be on the ground floor, while the last one will be in a locker room on the upper level.
    • Where to Use: The location that the Server Access Key can open can be found in Comms Tower. Once an Access Item is acquired, players can head to the upper levels of the building and go to the southernmost part of the structure. Prospectors will find a locked door, which will lead them to a room with four lootable cabinets, a safe, and several briefcases.
  • Mine Access Key
    • The next Keycard can be acquired in the Abandoned Mine area. The keys will either be in a jacket or inside a chest. These points of interest are not hard to miss, and they will provide extra Brittle Titan Ore.
    • Where to Use: The locked location can be found in the northmost part of the area. The Mine Access Key can be used on a Mine Shutter, which will lead to several industrial crates and Brittle Titan Ore.
  • Tall House Key
    • There is an Access Item in the southern part of the Woodcutter Camp. This place is the only area where players can find keys. It is less likely to find dupes for this item, so Prospectors should be quick when they want to access the House.
    • Where to Use: The Keycard can be used for a room in the area's tallest building. Hence it is called the "Tall House Key." Inside the location, players can find one weapon crate and a container.
  • Armory Key
    • One of the highly contested Keys in the game is the Armory Keycard. This Access Item can be found somewhere in the southern part of the Jungle Camp area. If players find a Key, then they can proceed to the room.
    • Where to Use: The locked storage for this Keycard can be found at the top of the smaller buildings in the area. Upon opening the location, players can access multiple high-value weapon crates and containers.
  • Skeleton Key
    • The Skeleton Key is also one of the most highly contested items in The Cycle: Frontier. The item is a blue rarity key, which leads to decent high-quality loot. The object can be potentially found in the southwest part of the Swamp Camp near the skeleton remains.
    • Where to Use: Once the Key has been acquired, players should head towards the building south of the giant skeletal remains. The loot room will contain several containers, a weapons crate, and a safe.
  • Bright Sands Observation Room Key
    • Another area with decent loot is the room where the Bright Sands Observation Room Key opens. The Access Item is located inside the Vaccine Labs, so players will need to do a full sweep of the area to the laboratory to find it. Fortunately, not many players go there due to having relatively lower loot.
    • Where to Use: The Keycard opens a room on the upper floors in the Vaccine Lab. Upon unlocking the area, players can loot various medical containers and crafting supplies.

Crescent's Fall

This map is the 2nd region of The Cycle: Frontier and is considered the complex mode map. This area has 14 evac zones and will feature tier 3 up to tier 5 difficulty encounters. Crescent's Fall also has 7 Locked Rooms that can be opened with seven corresponding Access Items. Here is all the Key in this map:

  • Loose House Key
  • Overseers Office Key
  • Garage Office Key
  • Bar Storage Key
  • Boss' Office Key
  • Janitor Key
  • Lab Keycard

Due to high-quality loots in Crescent's Fall, most of the Keycard Locations in this map are highly contested. This is why players need to be on their feet at all times and ready to fight for their lives while trying to unlock the locked rooms. Here are all the locations for each Access Item in Crescent's Fall:

  • Loose House Key
    • This Access Item is one of the most common Keys found in Crescent's Fall. Though it can be easily found in this region, it has an Uncommon Rarity. Ideally, players should search for it near Favela, where the Loot Room is located.
    • Where to Use: The room for the Loose House Key can be found at the top of the Favela. Prospectors can just run up the stairs where they can see a locked door behind another locked door in the Community Room. This will lead players to an area full of containers and a decent weapon crate.
  • Overseers Office Key
    • This Key can be located somewhere in the Nutron Farms. However, the area will be infested with acid-spitting aliens, so players should be quick and efficient in their movement.
    • Where to Use: The room that the Overseers Office Key unlocks can be found on the right side of the upper floor of the building. The area will contain several containers, some briefcases, and a weapon crate.
  • Garage Office Key
    • Players should consider landing and search at the map's center near Green's Prospect for this item. However, the center map is also a highly contested area, so gamers are prone to encounter other Prospectors, so players should be cautious while scouring for Keys in this place.
    • Where to Use: The Garage Office Key can be used to open a room inside the large garage building. There will be several cabinets, lockers, and a weapon crate inside the storage.
  • Bar Storage Key
    • While looking for the Garage Office Key, players might also encounter the Access Item for the Bar Storage room. Since the area is also near Green's Prospect zone, it is a good idea for Prospectors to try to search for it actively.
    • Where to Use: If players could find a Key for the Bar Storage, the room could be inside a building with a "Bar" sign. It can be located across the street from the garage.
  • Boss' Office Key
    • The Starport admin area is just a few miles from Green's Prospects. Players should consider sweeping this area to look for a Keycard on this site.
    • Where to Use: The room for this Key can be found inside the building on the left side of the hallway. This area is highly contested since the storage has a decent number of safes and a weapon crate.
  • Janitor Key
    • While looking for the Boss' Office Key, players should also consider looking for the Janitor Access Item. The room that this Keycard opens can also be found in the Starport admin area, so searching for it during sweeps will help Prospects clear both Boss's Office and Janitor rooms simultaneously.
    • Where to Use: The room that the Janitor Key opens can be located in the basement of Starport Admin. After players pass through the Boss' Office, they will see some stairs they can take to head to the lower levels. This Access Item can be used to open three locked rooms, which will contain containers, jackets, and briefcases.
  • Lab Key
    • The Keycard for the Lab can potentially be found in the Pinnacle Lab area. The area is desolate, so there are relatively fewer Prospectors who would go to this place. However, gamers should still be quick while sweeping the site for the potential Lab Key.
    • Where to Use: The room for this Keycard can be found in the building at the top of the hill. Players should then travel towards the upper level and head to the opposite side of another building. This room will contain a decent number of drawers, medical containers, a couple of briefcases, and a weapon crate.

Note: Searching for the Keycards in these respective areas does not guarantee that players can find them. Acquiring Access Keys is still based on RNG, so Prospectors can still find these items in places far away from their corresponding access rooms.

Keycards can also be carried to the next instance. As long as players do not drop them after death, these items can remain in the inventory and be used successively. It is highly recommended to store Rare Keys inside safeboxes to avoid losing them.

Having an idea where to find the keys and where the rooms are will help Prospectors make the most out of each incursion. For a game such as The Cycle: Frontier, progress depends on the amount of loot or rewards taken. Make sure to save keycards and open locked rooms as much as possible.
