After the momentous 1.0 release, Pocketpair has listened to community feedback and released a rather small but impactful update to Palworld. Here is everything you need to know about Palworld's latest update and how it will impact the game.
Palworld version 1.0.4 (Everything you need to know)
Brand New Missions for Palworld (Tides of Terraria)
The update adds 2 brand new missions to the game, both of which can be accepted at Fisherman's Point at Mount Obsidian.
The first is Beyond Dimensions; the quest takes you to the Sealed Realm of Terraria, where you are tasked with completing the dungeon. Once you have completed the quest, you gain access to From the Far Side of the Moon. For this quest, you will have to defeat the Moon Lord, who can be summoned as a raid boss in one of your bases.
Fishing Difficulty Adjustments for Sunreach and World Tree
A major complaint was how difficult fishing can be in these locations. Because of this, the developers made the fishing minigame in Sunreach 15% easier, while World Tree is 25-30% easier. In addition, when creating or adjusting world settings, a brand-new option to adjust Fish Behavior During Fishing Minigames was added, allowing players to fine-tune the fishing difficulty.
Pals, Skills, and Combat
- We adjusted charging-type skills to prevent too much follow-through. This prevents larger enemy Pals and Bosses from being stunlocked by damage.
- Adjusted the Lunaris Effigy to grant more stats per effigy.
- Adjusted the damage of the Core Eject Shotgun.
- Changed the backstep behavior of Pals (taking several backsteps before using a skill).
- Pals will prioritize using more powerful moves first when in battle.
- Ancient Bark now only needs Lvl 1 Work Suitability.
Basebuilding and Exploration
One of the best changes in this update is preventing damage when standing over a campfire. Players and Pals passing over the Campfire workstation will no longer be set on fire. This should make early base setups much easier and safer.
Added more building restrictions to the map to prevent bases from being built too close to boss locations. Also added building restrictions for server management.
Quest Changes
Pal Critic quests in Sakurajima were changed from Selyne to Dogen, and the Pal Critic quest in Sunreach was changed from Bastigor and Faleris Aqua.
QoL Changes
- Added brand new sounds to several NPCs, Pals, Field Effects, UI interactions, and more.
- Added name search to the Palpedia.
- Added a sound effect to Bounty Token acquisition.
- Changed the default FPS cap to 120.
- Canceling an ongoing craft will no longer drop materials on the ground. Instead, it goes into the player's inventory.
- When canceling construction or dismantling a building, items over the weight limit will be dropped at the player's feet if “Do not automatically pick up items over the weight limit” is enabled.
Final Notes on the Palworld Update
While the update doesn't add anything major, it adds much-needed polish. The update fixes a whole list of bugs and also adds some functionality to the Palpedia. Console performance should generally improve, and it finally adds a canonical way to introduce the Tides of Terraria collab.
