This is because many games prevent matchmaking between players with a huge difference between their level and rank to ensure that the game stays fair and not frustrating for both players that are affected by the wide skill gap.
For higher-level players, they won’t have to deal with those that are still learning the ropes, while lower-level players won’t either be slaughtered by high-level ones or gain an unfair advantage for being their teammate. Unfortunately, this particular matchmaking measure also applies to friends, which means you won’t be able to play with them in ranked matches. Thus, higher-level players need a smurf account.
On the other hand, there are also players that are of the same level and even rank as their friends, but don’t want their stats to be affected in case they lose. A way gamers get around that would be through a smurf account as well.
Using an Overwatch Level 25 Account for Smurfing
In Overwatch, the reasons for using smurf account are pretty much the same as all of these. The only difference is the kind of smurf account someone might want to get.
Occasionally, a person wants to start right back at the beginning. Maybe they’re doing it not just to play with their friends who happen to be beginners, but because they want to see how well they can do if they start from scratch. If that’s the case, they tend to use level 1 smurf accounts.
If they don’t want to start that far back, a lvl 25 account is often used. This is if someone doesn’t want to play against just newbies.
