Sierra Overwatch Guide: All Abilities & Best Hero Perks (2026)

Sierra is the newest DPS Hero being added to the Overwatch roster for Season 2: Summit. She’s a high-mobility hero with projectiles, drones, and a homing mechanic to track enemies. If you want to try her out, here’s a complete guide on her abilities and perks in the game.

All of Sierra’s Core Abilities in Overwatch

Sierra has 5 Abilities and 1 Passive in the game. Each one has a different task when you’re flying through the map and hunting down enemies. Here are all of Sierra’s abilities and how they work.

Ability

Type

Description

Helix Rifle

Primary Fire (M1)

An automatic assault rifle that fires in a spiral pattern. It becomes more accurate the longer you hold down the trigger.

Tracking Shot

Secondary Fire (M2)

Fires a pink dart that sticks to an enemy. While marked, shots from your Helix Rifle will curve and track that target, even around corners.

Anchor Drone

Ability 1 (Shift)

Launches a small drone into the air. Sierra can reactivate her grappling ability or launch herself toward the drone for rapid repositioning.

Tremor Charge

Ability 2 (E)

Throws an explosive charge that creates a shockwave on impact, dealing AoE damage and knocking back enemies.

Trailblazer

Ultimate (Q)

Deploys a larger drone that flies forward in a straight line, carpet-bombing the area beneath it with explosives.

Recon

Passive

Automatically reveal enemies to her team if she deals damage to them while they are below 50% health

Sierra’s Hero Perks in Overwatch

With the Reign of Talon update, heroes now have a selectable perk to customize each Hero’s playstyle. Sierra has 2 Minor and 2 Major for you to mix and match to suit your needs. Here are all her perks and how they work.

Minor Perks

Full Flight

Increases the flight speed and grapple range of your Anchor Drone by 25%.

Tight Grip

The Helix Rifle reaches maximum accuracy 100% faster and loses accuracy 30% slower when you stop firing.

Major Perks

Medi-Drone

Your Anchor Drone now carries a small health pack that Sierra can pick up when she grapples to it.

Locked In

Successfully hitting an enemy with Tracking Shot grants Sierra a 20% attack speed boost for 2 seconds.

💡Tip: You can use the Full Flight and Locked In perks to have Sierra become an aggressive flyer. If you want better survivability, you can use the Tight Grip and Medi-Drone perks. It’s all up to you how you want to play Sierra in the game.

How to Play Sierra in Overwatch (Strategy Guide)

Sierra’s gameplay is designed to let her get kills while flying and be a heavy flaker.

Her Tracking Shot essentially acts like an aimbot for a short period, making her an effective hero against high-mobility agents like Pharah and Echo.

Sierra is a DPS that specializes in flushing out entrenched DPS or supports and punishing players who are out of position. She is best played as a flanker with her Anchor Drone giving her access to off-angles and Tracker Drone essentially guaranteeing a kill on isolated supports. You can also use her Anchor Drone as an escape tool, though be aware that the ability has a fairly long cooldown, so use it wisely.

Her Tremor Charge is a versatile tool for securing a kill against enemies in cover, pushing enemies out of cover, or pushing enemies away from you.

In maps with notable chokepoints, Sierra’s Trailblazer ultimate is perfect for clearing out tight areas, as her drone has a long but narrow bombing range.

Here’s a short strategy guide on how to play Sierra in Overwatch.

  • Mobility: Use Anchor Drone to reach high ground or escape dives. If you choose the Full Flight perk, you can move around massive gaps.
  • The Curve Shot: Her bullets have no damage falloff since they are projectiles, but they do have travel time. Use the Tracking Shot to hit enemies who think they are safe behind cover.
  • Counters: Sierra struggles against barrier-heavy comps like Reinhardt and Sigma because her Tracking Shot dart will stick to the shield instead of the hero behind it.
