Overwatch Season 4: D.Mon Guide (Skills & Abilities)

Overwatch’s Season 4 is here, bringing a new Hero: D.Mon. Fans have eagerly waited for years to see another MEKA squad member join as a player character alongside D.Va. D.Mon is a highly mobile melee Tank that can shake up the meta. To help you understand how this Hero works, here’s a complete guide on Overwatch’s latest addition, D.Va.

All D.Mon Skills & Abilities in Overwatch Season 4

D.Mon’s gameplay is totally different from D.Va’s ballistic-heavy style. Instead, D.Mon brings an agile sword and shield to the Tank role. Since she pilots a mech, she shares the same Pilot Form mechanic with D.Va, allowing her to stay in the fight even if her mech is destroyed. Here’s a complete list of D.Mon’s abilities in the game.

Ability

Category

Description

Stalwart

Subrole Passive

As a Stalwart Tank, D.Mon takes 40% less knockback and slow effects.

Plasma Saber

Primary Fire (Mech)

Swings a massive plasma sword in a frontal arc. Deals 60 damage per hit with a maximum range of 5.5 meters.

Power Shield

Secondary Fire

Deploys a frontal, directional energy barrier with 650 health to block ranged attacks. Melee abilities can still pierce through it.

Surging Strike

Ability

Activated by using Primary Fire while holding the Power Shield. Performs a forward lunge with knockback, ideal for pushing enemies off objectives or into environmental hazards.

Rapid-Fire Fusion Repeater

Ability

A 4-second powered-up machine gun mode mounted on her mech. It fires hitscan projectiles dealing 15 damage each, with a 2x critical headshot multiplier.

Propulsors

Movement

A fuel-based horizontal dash. Crucially, fuel consumption is reduced by 30% if used while holding down her Power Shield, allowing for safe gap-closing.

Limit Break

Ultimate (Mech)

Unleashes a sweeping sword attack that grants up to 300 temporary self-overhealth and applies a vulnerability debuff, amplifying all damage taken by affected enemies.

Portable Fusion Repeater

Primary Fire (Pilot)

If her mech is destroyed, D.Mon fights on foot using a tracking-based heavy machine gun with a 30-bullet capacity. It deals 12 damage per shot with a 2x critical multiplier.

Call Mech

Ultimate (Pilot)

Builds ultimate charge on foot to call down a fresh mech. Deals AoE damage and knocks back enemies upon landing, and can notably be activated in mid-air.

Team Comps and Counters for D.Mon in Overwatch Season 4

D.Mon thrives in closing the distance and taking space; she’s incredibly effective in rush compositions. You’ll want her to be paired with speed-boosting supports like Lúcio or Juno, alongside mobile flankers such as Tracer, Genji, or Shion. She can easily bully low-mobility heroes who can’t escape her shielded dashes. Her ultimate pairs well with damage hero ultimates due to the damage amplification debuff it applies to enemies.

Despite her agility, D.Mon doesn’t have it easy against everyone. She’ll struggle heavily against poke-oriented or highly vertical team comps. Heroes like Pharah, Echo, and Wrecking Ball can effortlessly evade her plasma saber. She lacks the vertical mobility to contest flying Heroes in matches. Managing her Propulsor fuel cooldown is also vital, as being caught without fuel leaves her vulnerable. Despite her weaknesses, once you understand her gameplay and abilities, you can wreak havoc in matches.
