While all Warframes are viable for both normal and Steel Path mode, some have risen to the top tiers since they can deal damage, tank damage, and buff themselves. Here is the current tier list for all Warframes in 2026 to help you decide which ones to get first.
The game is currently in its most balanced state, and almost all Warframes in this list can be powerful in Steel Path with the proper investment, but the best Warframes can be used in all types of content without requiring a specialized build.
S Tier Warframes
Warframes in this tier have a set of abilities that can deal damage, provide survivability, and provide utility. They are the best everyday use Warframes and will get you a ton of value for your account.
💎Citrine
Citrine is one of the most universal Warframes in the game right now, as she occupies all roles from tank, support, and damage with all four of her abilities. Her passive and second ability make her extremely tanky, her first and third abilities are great for status priming, and her fourth ability grants both CC and guaranteed red crits.
📖 Dante
Despite being considered a caster frame, Dante covers a ton of roles with self-sustain and status priming as his specialties. He can generate Overguard on the fly with his second ability and deal guaranteed Slash procs with his third. His fourth ability gives him even more versatility, either priming enemies for more status damage, providing more Overguard, or dealing massive burst damage.
⚡ Gauss
If speedrunning is your specialty, Gauss is great for blitzing through missions while still having very solid survivability and damage potential. Mach Rush is his primary ability for extreme mobility, but Kinetic Plating grants easy access to knockdown and damage resistance. Thermal Sunder lets him manipulate his battery resource, and Redline lets him power up even more.
🛡️ Harrow
Harrow is the best weapon platform in Warframe, as he can buff his weapons with guaranteed crits, fire rate, and reload speed using Covenant and Penance, respectively. As for survivability, Condemn gives him instant shields and Overshields on demand and Thurible to sustain his Energy economy.
🩸 Kullervo
Kullervo is much like Harrow as the best melee weapon platform in the game, with a skill for tanking enemies and extra utility options. Wrathful Advance grants whatever melee weapon he has equipped with guaranteed red crits, Recompense provides healing and Overguard on demand, Storm of Ukko to build more Combo for heavy melee, and Collective Curse for AoE clearing.
🌱 Wisp
Wisp is the most powerful support Warframes who plays just as well solo. With Reservoirs, she can grant herself and allies movement/attack speed, health regen or crowd control at any moment. Breach Surge helps you clear out mobs easily, and Will-o'-Wisp can be used for invincibility when things get dire.
🎵 Octavia
When it comes to farming endurance missions like Survival and Defense, Octavia can essentially AFK farm with the unique interactions with her Mallet, Resonator and Amp abilities. She can also give herself an extended invisibility buff, weapon multishot and melee attack speed buff using just Metronome.
🦠 Saryn
Saryn inflicts two of the best status effects in the game, with Toxic, Corrosive, and Viral damage in her kit. Toxic Lash is a potent weapon buff ability, giving her weapons bonus Toxic damage. Molt (with the Regenerative Molt augment) drops aggro from enemies and gives her health regen. Spores and Miasma scale very well even in Steel Path missions.
A Tier Warframes
These Warframes are good picks and work very well once you understand each of their playstyles and mod synergies. With just a bit of Forma, Arcanes, and Archon Shards, you can bring these frames to Steel Path and clear missions reliably. Some of them may need a Helminth ability subsumed to bring out their best performance.
B Tier Warframes
These are fairly niche picks and require a specific playstyle to make them viable in the endgame. You will need to spend a fair amount of Forma and other resources to get the most out of their ability kits, but you can still clear Steel Path missions quite well.
