Honkai: Star Rail Stellar Flare Event Guide

Stellar Flare Event

Stellar Flare is an event in HSR version 1.1. In it, the Trailblazer must test a combat simulation program for a researcher. Each new stage has unique mechanics that specific characters can use. You can take on the most demanding challenge with the right combinations, the Supergiant Star.

Here's a handy guide to help you collect all the rewards, including materials to create new Relics.

Stellar Flare Event Overview

You must be at least at Trailblazer Level 21 to participate.

Grumpy texts the player, asking for help in her research. Find her in the Master Control Zone of the Herta Space Station, and she'll tell you all about the Stellar Flare. She was asked to research and test it but ran into trouble.

The program was a combat simulation, and Grumpy had no experience. She couldn't overcome the easiest difficulty, so she sought a skilled combatant and found the Trailblazer. Of course, being the game's hero, your character agrees, and you'll be brought to the event's menu.

There are 8 stages, each with unique mechanics. They also have three difficulties: Dwarf Star, Giant Star, and Supergiant Star. The difference between them is enemy strength, based on your Equilibrium level and decided when you start the event. If you do the Trial during its duration, the enemies will remain as strong as before you completed it.

Doing the higher difficulties will also give you the lower one's rewards. However, you can only unlock Supergiant Star after completing Giant Star. They also have objectives you must achieve to get the prizes. On the first two, it's to defeat two waves of enemies within three turns.

Supergiant Star difficulty mixes it up. It has nine waves of enemies, and every third wave empowers the following three sets of targets. The objectives are to defeat waves three and six within three turns. Reaching the ninth and beating all enemies will earn you a 'Total Break.' However, it doesn't provide any additional prizes.

Each round also has a buff that you can use to defeat enemies as fast as possible. A different trial character is provided to help you for each stage. Of course, this is optional, and if you have the same, more robust unit, you can use yours instead.

After trying it out once, Grumpy will mention that she sent the program to your phone so you can access it anytime. That means you don't have to go to the Space Station to access it. All you need to do is go to the events page (Travel Log) and press 'Go' on the Stellar Flare page. That will take you to its menu; you can do this anywhere (with some exceptions).

The Eight Stages

Take Their Lives While They're Sick

Trial Character: Arlan

Unique Effect: Inflicting Weakness Break onto an enemy will fully charge the attacker's Energy. After they use their Ultimate, damage dealt to the enemy increases by 60%, which can stack up to 5 times.

Septenary Woe, Annihilation

Trial Character: Luocha

Unique Effect: Using a Skill or Ultimate will sacrifice 30% of HP to guarantee a Critical Hit for the next attack if the unit has 50% or higher HP on activation. This also increases all allies' ATK by 50% for 2 turns, which can stack up to eight times.

Contagious Psych Bomb

Trial Character: Himeko

Unique Effect: When an enemy is Weakness Broken, all other targets on the field will have their Toughness reduced to zero. This also applies the same Weakness Broken status to them as the initial one. Attacking a Weakness Broken enemy will increase the damage it receives by 40%, which can stack up to twelve times.

Limited Firepower

Trial Character: Qingque

Unique Effect: Using a Skill will not consume Skill Points. Using a Skill or Ultimate on allies will increase their Crit Rate by 20% and Crit DMG by 60% for two turns. That buff can stack up to two times.

It's My Turn

Trial Character: Welt

Unique Effect: Using a Skill will grant an Extra Turn for the user. The next time they activate their Ultimate, its damage increases by 100%, which can stack up to three times.

More Than Ice and Fire

Trial Character: Serval

Unique Effect: Your party's Break Effect increases by 100%. Inflicting Weakness Break will trigger all statuses on the enemy as if all their Weaknesses were Broken. Using a Skill on the enemy will activate all the DoTs on the enemy, dealing 100% of the original damage.

FeLiNa

Trial Character: Tingyun

Unique Effect: All characters' Energy Regeneration +50%. When activating an Ultimate, allies regenerate 10 Energy. The action also increases the team's Crit Rate by 5% and Crit DMG by 15% for two turns, which can stack up to ten times.

Comatose but for a Second

Trial Character: Sampo

Unique Effect: Break Effect +100%. Inflicting Weakness Break on an opponent will immediately regenerate their Toughness, but all DoTs applied will be activated. Those will deal 80% of their original DMG.

Guide to Total Breaks

Since you want to defeat enemies as fast as possible, you should cut down on healing/defensive/supportive characters. Exceptions can be made if they can also deal damage or immensely help with damage output.

Ensure to hit as many weaknesses as possible (unless you have Silver Wolf, which makes it moot). Enemies have resistance to elements they're not weak to, so it will take more hits from those characters to defeat them. In contrast, it will be easier for units to use their weaknesses to beat them.

The trial characters are there for a reason. They're the ones who could benefit from or trigger the buffs each stage provides. However, you still have the choice of using them or not. If you have a better alternative, by all means, use them.

Use your most substantial units. It will take longer for under-leveled characters to defeat stronger enemies. It's not impossible. When the objective is to beat them in the least number of turns, they won't be able to make it.

While the article uses the term 'turns,' the game mentions 'cycles.' A cycle is a set of actions from both your party and the enemies, typically after taking a turn once each. Depending on your unit or the target's SPD, they could sometimes take two turns before it ends.

Investing in SPD could help a bit when managing these cycles. It's the same mechanic as the Forgotten Hall's Memory of Chaos, which could apply there. After all, you're only given three cycles, so make them count.

Continuing with cycles, if you defeat all the enemies in a wave before one ends, it is reset in the next wave. You'll see it because the games warn you when one ends. It's possible to complete every wave without using up any of them. At any rate, it's good to know so you can manage and squeeze in as many attacks as possible.

Stellar Flare Rewards

Each stage of the event has the same rewards:

  • Complete in Dwarf Star mode: 30 Stellar Jade, 3 Traveler's Guide, 30,000 Credits
  • Complete in Giant Star mode: 30 Stellar Jade, 5 Trace and Light Cone Ascension materials
  • Defeat 3 Enemy Waves in Supergiant Star mode: 15 Relic Remains, 5 Lost Gold Fragment
  • Defeat 6 Enemy Waves in Supergiant Star mode: 5 Relic Remains, 20,000 Credits

Completing every objective in all stages will total in:

  • 480 Stellar Jade
  • 24 Traveler's Guide
  • 400,000 Credits
  • Multiple Trace and Light Cone Ascension materials for various Paths
  • 160 Relic Remains
  • 40 Lost Gold Fragments

Lastly, completing all stages in Dwarf Star difficulty will give you 1 Tracks of Destiny. Remember, completing the levels in a more challenging mode will also provide rewards for lower-level difficulties.

Have Fun During the Event!

This combat event is quite chill if you're only after Stellar Jades. Completing the Giant Star difficulty will be quick if you have appropriately built characters. The only valuable things you get from Supergiant Star difficulty are the Relic Remains for synthesizing Relics. Even then, missing out on the last set of rewards will still give you 120 of them, enough to make one piece of equipment you need.
