Honkai Star Rail Forgotten Hall Tips

Forgotten Halls Tips

Forgotten Hall is the Star Rail Equivalent to the Spiral Abyss in Genshin Impact. It's a series of fights to finish the battle within specific limits. In Genshin, that's a time limit; in HSR, it's a turn limit. Also, after completing the first few levels, you'll unlock more challenging fights that change after a set time.

To farm Stellar Jades, even casual F2P players would need to do it well to get the Jades they need for pulling for the limited characters. Fortunately, there will be tips to help you overcome these challenges with max stars.

How to Unlock

You can unlock this after completing the 'Fleeting Lights' quest. It appears when you reach Trailblaze Level 21. Pom-Pom sends you a message about the train being 'off' and asks you, Welt, and Himeko to investigate.

There are various objects to check, but the quest only progresses when you examine the broken mirror that mysteriously appeared. Asking the others will reveal that they don't see it and prompts you to recheck it. A messenger from the Garden of Recollection explains things and asks you to keep it a secret. Whichever you pick, the rest of the crew will remain oblivious to its existence, as telling them will make the messenger purge the information from their minds.

Mechanics

As mentioned, like the Spiral Abyss of Genshin, it's a series of levels where you must complete objectives for rewards. It also has two sections, a permanent (Memory Stages) and a variable (Memory of Chaos). The first has 15 levels, and the second has 10. The objectives can become more complicated and challenging later, especially in the second section.

Think of it this way, since the combat is turn-based, the objectives aren't based on times but on turns. The aim is still to finish the fight as fast as possible. Later, you could be asked to create two teams to fight different sets of enemies.

Each level also has its gimmicks, from increasing the damage of a specific element to recovering Skill Points every turn. Teams that take advantage of these boosts have better chances of getting all insignias.

Forgotten Hall Rewards

For the first 15 levels, you get 200 Stellar Jades and 20,000 Credits for every 3 insignias you earn. That's 3,000 Jades and 300,000 Credits once you've achieved all the objectives. Once you've reached Memory of Chaos, you can farm slightly less. However, its advantage is resettability, meaning you can gather Jades with every new set of battles.

They also offer a Light Cone Manifest store. The stock includes 4-star Light Cones that usually come from the gacha, namely:

  • Quid Pro Quo
  • Fermata
  • We Are Wildfire
  • River Flows in Spring
  • Past and Future
  • Woof! Walk Time!
  • The Seriousness of Breakfast

If you need to Superimpose these, this is one good way to get materials. However, the stock is only limited to one. After that, you can't buy another. There isn't any indication that this will reset. The currency for this shop is Lucent Afterglow, which you can receive from the Forgotten Halls or Echoes of War.

Tips and Tricks

General

  • Ensure Your Characters are Sufficiently Leveled
  • Enhance Relics and Light Cones
  • Upgrade Traces

While you can do these features under-leveled, you'll have difficulty achieving the Insignia objectives in Forgotten Hall. These three tips cover most of what would be difficult in the earlier parts of the game. Ensure you've upgraded them as much as possible to be more efficient in combat.

It's possible to beat these enemies while under-leveled, but you won't hit the objectives you need to get the rewards. Plus, if your characters are lower-leveled, they're more vulnerable and prone to getting knocked out. The aim to only have one downed ally would be impossible, and there's no way of reviving mid-battle. That would cripple your team and reduce the chances of succeeding to zero.

Team Composition

It's been mentioned, but it is necessary to create teams that take advantage of each level's special boosts and effects. You can boost your damage or use more Ultimates when you do, leading to more efficiency, mainly because you need to defeat enemies within a specific number of turns.

There is at least one damage dealer per element, except for Imaginary, as Welt is the only one with that element. Some might be five-star, but most are in the standard banner, and it's pretty easy to farm the Passes for that.

Prioritize the Boss

As long as they had no allies at the beginning of the battle, defeating the boss will be enough to end the round. You can ignore their summoned allies, as they will die once their master does. This goes twofold, the boss stops calling for more support, and you don't waste turns trying to kill them.

You should still prioritize the boss if they start a battle with friends. Sometimes they won't ask for additional allies, but it depends on the enemy. Still, they hit harder than the mooks, so killing them first adds to your survival chances.

The only exception is when there are too many mooks to manage, such as summoning four allies simultaneously.

Try to Hit as Many Weaknesses as Possible

Enemies have more than one weakness, at least two to three. There will be overlaps, meaning you can hit up to four weaknesses on the enemy. Of course, you could be limited by the characters you own, but try as much as you can. Weakness Break increases the damage they take and slows their turns slightly, so applying it whenever possible is essential.

Auto-Battle is a Double-Edged Sword

While the AI is good at choosing enemies with weaknesses, it tends to prioritize other things than the ones you want. Bronya or Tingyun could buff someone other than your DPS, for example. If you're matching the level of the enemy, it might be better to be the one manually inputting the actions.

However, if you're over-leveled, setting the battle on auto is faster and doesn't need supervision. There is still a chance the AI takes a long way and won't hit the turn limits, though.

The Most Important Tip of All: Enjoy the Game!

Once you hit your goal of enhancing and leveling characters, figuring out teams and actions becomes easier. With upgraded abilities, the objectives are much easier to achieve, and your fights become smoother. Don't push your under-leveled characters, and take breaks when needed. After all, you'll need the resources to level up and enhance your units.
