What are levels for in The First Descendant?

There are 3 different leveling systems in the game. The first is the Mastery level. This is the primary progression system that is account-wide and will dictate how many modules you can place on your weapons and Descendants. Thus, the more Mastery levels you have, the more upgrades your Modules have available to them to reach their highest values.

Second is your Descendant levels. Every level will boost the Descendant’s stats, like more health, shields and skill levels. Each Descendant you unlock after your original pick will start at level 10, but they will not share levels with the highest-leveled character or the account’s Mastery rank. This means that all new unlocked Descendants must be leveled from scratch, which requires killing multiple mobs and completing different activities.

Lastly, each weapon has a Weapon Proficiency. On its own, Weapon Proficiency doesn’t really do anything, but after reaching level 40, players can reset its proficiency to add a Module socket type on the weapon. Since each module has a shape assigned to it, placing the mod on the socket that matches its shape will reduce its capacity by half, allowing players to add another Module or upgrade their current ones.

What are The First Descendant’s endgame modes?

Once level 40 has been reached for a Descendant, players can start playing the Hard mode variants of the regions and Void Intercepts. This mode grants increased rewards for high-level players, like better weapon quality loot and increased material drop rates. Since much of the game’s biggest draw is the collection of Descendants and weapons, players will be running harder content to make farming for certain characters easier and quicker.
