About Fallout 76
Fallout 76 is the MMO installment of the critically acclaimed Fallout series. It had a rocky beginning, but updates and patches have smoothed things out. However, it's hard to shake off its former reputation. Player count peaks at around 11,000-12,000 so it's not like servers are empty.
You play as one of the Vault Dwellers of Vault 76, one of the few vaults that worked properly. Now in the post-apocalyptic world of West Appalachia, you're tasked with rebuilding the old civilization and eke out a living in the Wasteland.
You can still try the game out with Fallout 76 accounts. Some online sellers may have quit the game, letting buyers try it out for themselves.
Is Fallout 76 cross-platform/crossplay?
No.
Fallout 76, the first multiplayer-based game in the Fallout franchise, was released in 2018. While it has undergone numerous updates and expansions since its initial release, one of the main features that the community has been clamoring for is cross-platform play. Unfortunately, as of now, Fallout 76 does not support cross-platform play. This means that players on different platforms cannot play together. Specifically, if a player is on Xbox and their friend is on PlayStation, they cannot join the same game. The same restriction applies to other platform combinations.
There's also no cross-progression, meaning if you switch platforms, your progress won't carry over. The community has expressed a desire for cross-platform integration multiple times, but as of the current state, players are restricted to playing with others on the same platform.
Where to buy Fallout 76 accounts?
Buying will ultimately depend on your preference. Your local game stores carry physical copies if you like those. Amazon also sells the game, both digital and physical versions. PS4 and Xbox One users can buy and download it from their respective online stores. Lastly, you may also get the game through Bethesda's site and Humble Bundle.
There might be restrictions on your country for some of these sites, so just pick from what's available.
How to buy Fallout 76 on PC?
For physical copies, ask for the PC version at your local game retail store. Otherwise, you may buy one on Amazon when you pick the ‘secondhand’ option. If you prefer to ditch the physical disc, you may also choose to purchase a digital edition. Just pick what edition you want, and choose PC as your console. Pay the appropriate amount, and wait for your game to arrive at your doorstep or finish downloading. Sadly, the game won't be on Steam, despite the platform selling other games of the franchise.
What editions to buy?
There are two editions to choose from, ‘Standard' and ‘Tricentennial'. The standard version is just the base game without any add-ons. The Tricentennial edition gives in-game bonuses such as customization options for power armor and weapons. Those items aren't anything that will give significant boosts in power or survivability. The difference is more customization options for the Tricentennial edition.
Now that you know where and how to buy the game, all you need is the account. Fallout 76 accounts can be bought from separate game trading marketplaces and may present benefits; on top of being able to start out powerful, some account offers can also provide 2 at the same time: (1) a digital copy of the game and (2) a great account to start playing it with.
