How to Launch Nukes in Fallout 76

How to Launch Nukes in Fallout 76

In Fallout 76, you face mutated creatures, rogue robots, and rival players, all vying for the same scarce resources. To turn the tide in your favor, nothing is quite as powerfulᅳor as dramaticᅳas launching a nuke.

Nukes in Fallout 76 are more than just big explosions. They're game-changers (literally) that open up new opportunities, create high-level events, and give you access to rare resources. It requires a lot of skill, teamwork, and courage, but the rewards are worth it.

Locating a Nuclear Keycard

First, you’ll need a Nuclear Keycard. If you've followed our guide on starting the Enclave questline, you should now have access to the Whitespring Bunker. After talking to MODUS, go to the back of the room and use the terminal to access Ellen Santiago's archive. Select "The Code Pieces" to get the Fujiniya Facility Password.

If you don't have a Nuclear Keycard yet, just use the Surveillance System nearby to track one down. The system will point you to a Cargobot carrying the keycard. But be careful; these Cargobots are heavily guarded by Vertibots and other robots. You'll need to be prepared for a fight, so make sure you have enough Stimpaks and ammo.

You don’t have to waste your time looking for launch codes since they’re readily available on community websites. It’s worth noting that the codes change every week, so just make sure you have the latest one before entering the silo.

Fujiniya Base

Now, with the password to Fujiniya base in hand, go to Mama Dolce's Food Processing in the Forest Region. It looks like a regular food plant, but there's a secret behind it: a covert Chinese outpost called the Fujiniya Intelligence Base.

To enter, find the hatch at the southeastern corner of the building, on the side of a big metal pipe. Open it and go down into the base.

Once you're on the bottom floor, find a room with some tables and pale blue machinery. Look behind these machines to find a terminal. Use your Fujiniya Facility Password to unlock it, and it will trigger the next quest, "Mission Countdown."

Preparing for Silos

Before you head in, make sure to stock up on resources (ammo, Stimaks, food, water, etc.) as you’ll be in there for a while. Then, choose which silo to launch your nuke from: Alpha, Bravo, or Charlie.

Inside the silos are robots guarding them, Protectrons, Mr. Gutsys, and Assaultrons. Be sure to equip energy-resistant gear and energy weapons, along with ballistic-resistant gear and ballistic weapons, as some Mr.Gutsys are equipped with .44 and .45 ballistic weapons.  We also recommend bringing a radiation suit or Rad-X, because certain areasᅳespecially near the power chamberᅳhave high radiation levels.

(Pro tip: A hand-to-hand weapon is great for saving ammo when you're low.)

Security terminals can be found throughout the silos. If you can access them, reprogram the turrets to target your enemies instead of you. This gives you a massive advantage in combat.

Repairing Pipes with a Two-Minute Time Limit

This part can be tricky, as broken pipes won't show up on your HUD. To fix the pipes, you'll need to use your ears. Listen carefully for the hissing sound—that's where you'll find the leaks.

When you hear the hiss, move quickly to find the broken pipe and use a repair kit to fix it. Since you only have two minutes, bring extra repair kits in case you need them.

Knowing which areas to check first can make things a lot easier. If you move fast and follow a plan, you'll be able to fix the pipes before the time runs out.

Destroying and Replacing Mainframe Cores

In this step, you'll need to destroy a bunch of mainframe cores. Look for the computer parts with red lights—they're easy to spot. Once you break them, you'll have to replace them with new ones to move forward. You need to smash15 of them to open the final door.

You might find some replacement cores lying around on shelves or scattered in the area, but you may also need to craft some at a tinker bench. For this, it’s important to bring extra supplies like steel and circuitry beforehand.

Protecting Robots During Launch Prep

The final step before launching a nuke is initiating the launch prep. This step activates robots that operate the launch equipment, but the thing is, they’re prime targets for enemy robots, so it’s your job to keep them safe.

Enemy robots will come at you in waves, so find a good spot to defend from while keeping an eye on the launch prep robots. Remember that if the robots get destroyed, the quest will fail, so do your best to protect them at any cost. Having friends or a team with you can help significantly at this stage to cover more fire against the waves of robots.

You can always repeat this quest to launch more nukes. Just get more Nuclear Keycards and Launch Codes, then head back to the silos for another battle. After you launch the nuke, you can collect valuable loot from the high-level enemies and special events it triggers. Good luck, and happy nuking!
