Best Dragonflight Hunter Pets

Best Dragonflight Pets

The Dragon Isles features brand-new landscapes, factions, and villains to defeat. For Hunters, it means there’s a whole new variety of exciting pets to tame. The Dragonflight expansion recently received its most significant update yet, opening the gates of the Evoker exclusive zone, the Forbidden Reach, to every class in the game. This means an influx of new pets to tame for Hunters.

Unless you’re only running around the Dragon Isles to add various species to your stable, pets are loyal companions of the Hunter spec that are crucial when doing raids, PvP, and dungeons. It’s not just about looks, either. While it’s nice to have an elemental-themed pet that looks cool, sometimes the abilities matter more than its aesthetic appeal, with some builds even requiring a specific pet to maximize DPS. Let’s look at some of the best pets Hunters can get in Dragonflight.

The Best Hunter Pets Dragonflight

Bloodgullet: One of the Best BM Hunter Pets for Dragonflight

Beast Mastery Hunters are a cut above the other Hunter specs, mainly because of their exclusive pets they have access to and gameplay potential. One of the exotic pets in their repertoire is the Bloodgullet—an elusive Spectral Armoredon part of the Spirit Beast family. This level 65-70 elite creature is located in the Ohn'ahran Plains.

Since it’s a rare beast, there’s a catch to getting the Bloodgullet: it’s invisible. The only way to make it visible is to click on the Essence of Awakening—a pile of purple dust found in a hut at coordinates 85.7, 20.8. Once you’ve interacted with it, you have an hour-long buff that’ll expose the Bloodgullet to you, so make sure to head to the location in Ohn’ahran Plains (67.6, 43.4) immediately, where you’ll find it wandering around the meadows southeast of the Maruukai flight point.

Vaniik The Stormtouched: The Rarest Ohuna

Ohunas have different appearances, ranging from changes in their colors to slight changes to their majestic horns. During your time in the Ohn’ahran Plains, you probably learned about the legendary Ohn’ahra. A deity worshipped by the Ohn’ir Clan, the bird often shared advice with the people through mystics.

The Wind God’s corrupted child, Vaniik the Stormtouched, is a rare spawn with a windy trail effect coming from its tail, lacking from other Ohunas. If you want to try getting this pet, you'll be in for a bloodbath, but the rare spawn is worth obtaining for its two horns and unique windswept effect.

Magmammoths: The Best Mammoth Pet in WoW

World of Warcraft gets a couple of new mammoths whenever there’s a new expansion, but so far, the debut of Magmammoths has been the most impressive. The fiery beasts sport different combinations regarding their appearances. Some can have longer horns, while others have spikes on their backs or heads.

You can find Magmammoths in The Walking Shores, around Burning Ascent: Emberflow and Scalecracker Keep. Take caution, though, as these beasts are level 65-70 elites, so they can pack a punch if you try to tame them while you’re under-leveled. Since Magmammoths are part of the Tenacity family spec, they’re great for blitzing through solo content thanks to their Trample skill, which slows down enemies by 50%.

Ice Bears: A Staple in World of Warcraft

Bears have been in the game since the Vanilla World of Warcraft era. Since then, these furry creatures have made their way to every expansion pack released. The two bear species in Dragonflight go hand in hand with the Dragon Isles’ theme. Several variations have been introduced, such as dark green, gray, purple, blue, and white. Ice Bears, except for the blue Ice Bear variant, Frostjaw, can be found around the Azure Span. Frostjaw’s a quest spawn that’s only found at Winterpelt Hollow.

The main gripe players have with catching Ice Bears is that you’ll need to be a Skinner that can craft Elusive Bait to lure them out, except for the Frostjaw variant. You’ll need to spend 10 points of Knowledge in the Bait Crafted specialization, then another 20 points in the Mastery sub-spec to create the Elusive Bait. This makes Ice Bears an alluring beast for Hunters to catch.

Ottuk: Cute and Deadly

Who says a pet can’t be deadly and cute at the same time? Based on otters, Ottuks come in five different colors: yellow, black, brown, pale, and blue. They can be found in the Azure Span and Ohn’ahran Plains. They’re part of the Rodent family, which is accurate.

You’ll have to reach Renown Rank 11 with the Iskaara Tuskarr to get them. You’ll also have to complete the “While the Iron Is Hot” quest to tame these cuddly critters. If you want an extra chonky Ottuk, you can go for the Giant Ottuk Whompers.
