As you play Windrose and explore each island, you will progress in power with additional skill points and unlock better gear that will help you challenge tougher bosses. With so many powerful items and ways to build your character, this guide will show you the optimal build in Windrose so you can dominate even in the hardest biomes.
Pure Crit Build
This build focuses on dealing maximum damage with critical chance, using Mastery as the primary to increase your crit chance. You will be a glass cannon, but this gets you the most consistent big damage numbers in combat. For you food buffs, Coffee and Gazpacho will increase your max health to make up for the lack of Vitality investment in this build.

Drake’s Doubled Barrel Pistol |
|
The Razor is one of the best melee weapons in the game, not only for the extra crit chance, but also for the easier parry windows that make combat so essential. In Windrose, parrying reduces an enemy’s posture, which is represented by the shields below their health bar. While they posture, they cannot be staggered by melee attacks and, in turn, are more dangerous in melee.
When paired with Drake’s Doubled Barrel Pistol, you can make targets more vulnerable to damage while having an extra shot to use should you miss the first shot.
Armor
The five-piece Privateer set is the best armor set for this build as its 2-piece effect gives you 10% critical hit chance at base, with the 5-piece bonus granting critical damage by 10% for each enemy near you, up to 30% max.

Bleed Build
This build uses the Bleed and Temporal Health mechanic to absolutely bleed enemies to death while passively regaining HP without the need for food or potions. The Rapier of a Thousand Cuts is the most essential item for this build. For food buffs, Banana Muffins and Seafood Platters complement this build well.

Rapier of a Thousand Cuts |
|
This weapon is the most important item for this build, applying massive bleed stacks on enemies while using the DoT to heal the health you’ve lost. With this weapon, you can cheese bosses by making them bleed to death and undo the damage they dealt to you, saving you on potion uses.
Armor
The five-piece Privateer set is still the best set for this build for the extra crit damage that will make fights go a little quicker.
