Windrose has some bosses who will work as your major milestones, as not only are they a gear check for progression, but a skill check as well if you can parry and dodge their moves. This guide will show you every boss available in the game and provide some strategies to help you defeat them easily.
Thomas Richards
- He is the first boss you can encounter, who can be found in most Coastal Jungle biomes and is best fought at level 5.
Thomas uses a heavy club, which makes him swing very slowly with readable wind-ups. You can consistently dodge his attacks by dodging right just as he’s about to swing. He can also throw bombs in an arc, but they have a fuse time and are long enough for you to get out of the way.
Occasionally, he will flash a red light, which means he will try to grab you. When this happens, dodge as soon as the red light flashes to avoid his attack.
Best Armor Loadout
- 2 Conquistador armor pieces
- Grants 15% damage resistance
- 2 Marksman pieces
- Grants 30% less Stamina consumption for dashes, jumps, and sprints
Israel Hands
- This boss can be found in the Foothills biome and requires level 9 to beat.
His primary attack is a 2-swing combo that can be easily dodged backward and easily punished with one hit (once he reaches half health, he will add a third swing to the combo). He can also wind up with a heavy swing, which he shows by lifting his sword up to his head. His final melee attack is an unblockable attack where he charges forward with a spear, leaving behind a spectral trail that deals damage. Dodge away from this as soon as you see the red glint.
As for his ranged attacks, he can launch spectral skulls at you that have partial homing. If you’re using a healing item, he will try to shoot you with his spectral gun, so be careful when trying to heal.

High Priestess
- This boss is the Cursed Swamps biome boss, with a recommended level 12 character.
- You will need a pistol or a musket for this fight, as the boss has glowing pustule weakspots on her back. The Plague Pistol is great if you want some lifesteal, but you can also bring the Reliable Musket for its fast reload.
The High Priestess has plenty of melee attacks, based on your current position. If you stand in front of her, she will do a two-swipe combo with her forelegs. If you attack her from the sides, she will roll towards you or execute an AoE slam attack. Occasionally, she will do an unblockable tail swipe after her two-swipe attack.
For ranged, she will open her mouth and vomit projectiles at you. She can also spawn minions that will try to swarm you, which you should prioritize first before damaging the boss.
Once you destroy all the pustules, she will be stunned and reveal another weakspot on her mouth for 4 seconds that you can melee.
