Getting to Know Phoenix Valorant

Want to know more about your potential main? Then say no more because we’ll be giving you all there is to know about one of the OG agents in Valorant! Phoenix was among the first readily-available agents when Valorant was first released. In fact, his gameplay style—along with Jett’s—was first shown even before the game’s official release. Unbeknownst to all, Phoenix is actually a concept from a scrapped agent that Riot Games was supposed to work with named Shatter. Shatter’s abilities are very similar to Phoenix’s. They also share the same style of jacket, both of which have a huge logo on the back. Ultimately, Shatter never came to be and it was Phoenix that was given a lease of life instead. If you’re looking for a dependable agent that’s easy to pick but hard to master, then Phoenix is the agent for you!

What are the Abilities of Phoenix from Valorant?

Each agent in Valorant has two basic skills, one signature skill, and one ultimate skill. All of Phoenix’s abilities center on fire. One might assume fire to be an offensive element, but Phoenix can use it in a defensive manner as well. Take Hot Hands for example, his signature skill. Being that it’s his signature skill, it doesn’t cost anything to use compared to his other skills. Hot Hands lets Phoenix equip a fireball and either throw it to enemies or where he’s standing. Should he throw it in the enemy’s vicinity, it then creates a fire zone that burns his opponents for a limited time. One of his basic skills, on the other hand, Blaze, lets him create a flame wall to block the vision of other players while damaging them should they go through it. Altogether, he has both offensive and defensive skills that in turn balance out his kit.

Here’s a more in-depth look at his abilities:

  • Run it Back - Run it Back is Phoenix’s signature move. After placing a mark at Phoenix’s original location, you’ll be sent to that mark should the timer on your ability run out or your health depletes to zero after being hit by opponents. This is Phoenix’s most powerful ability, as it lets him essentially have another chance at life should he fail to kill all of his enemies.
  • Curveball - These are flare orbs that Phoenix can use to curb to the left or right. The orbs then detonate shortly after being thrown, impairing the vision of players near it. The Curveball is a great skill that can be used for flanking players on the side.
  • Blaze - Using the Blaze skill sets up a firewall that can block the vision of both allies and enemies alike, so use it carefully. All players that pass through it will take damage, so be sure to take it down should your teammates advise you.
  • Hot Hands - Hot Hands is basically a fireball that you can throw to your enemies to deal damage to them over time. As this is Phoenix’s signature skill, you don’t need to spend the in-game currency to unlock it at the start of the match.

What Does Phoenix Do in Valorant?

Phoenix is a Duelist Agent. To give you an idea of what a Duelist is, they basically excel at fragging their opponents without being a hindrance to their allies because of their self-sufficiency. With their skills, Duelists are able to initiate fights with ease. Other Duelists include Raze and Jett.

Where is Phoenix From in Valorant?

Phoenix hails from the United Kingdom or Blighty, as other people affectionately like to call it. There’s no information regarding which city from the U.K. he is from, though.

Can Phoenix Heal Valorant Agents?

Phoenix is unable to heal other agents in Valorant since his skills don’t allow him to do so. As of now, the only agent that can do so is Sage who is recognized as the only healer in the game thanks to her kit. This is due to her Healing Orb skill that can be used to either heal herself or one of her allies. But most important of all, she can resurrect herself or one of her teammates using her signature skill, Resurrection.

Can You Heal Yourself in Valorant?

Only a few agents are able to heal themselves in the game. Luckily, Phoenix is one of them. By using Hot Hands and throwing it on the ground where he’s standing, he’s able to recover his health over time. This only applies to him, though. Any other player that steps on the lingering fire zone will take damage.
