Valheim 1.0 Best Seeds and Settings (Deep North Update)

After a long wait, Valheim 1.0 was released with smashing success. Tons of new content were added, including the Deep North, along with several quality-of-life improvements. As players, new and old, rediscover Valheim, getting off to a strong start is essential for the best experience. Here are some of Valheim's best seeds and settings for 1.0.

Best Valheim Seeds for 1.0 (Deep North and More)

Seed

Why

SuperSeed (Best for Deep North)

Has all biomes on a single continent, including bosses, vendors, and 2 tetra fish spots. This seed is widely considered the best for the Deep North. The vast northern part of the map has tons of activities, and the starting continent has tons of resources.

OdinSkadi

Tons of POIs on the main continent as well as several bosses, including Moder just south of spawn. Haldor and Hildir are also relatively close and spawn close to each other further south.

ChristKing

Walkable bosses and vendors. Great seed if you struggle to find vendors.

nooo

Eikthyr is extremely close to spawn. The Deep North is almost walkable from the spawn island because of its size. Other bosses can also be encountered on the same continent.

nkkFzfrNPu (Iron Farm)

This seed contains tons of Iron. Spawn is located close to a swamp with a whopping 27 sunken crypts—a great world to spawn in or use when you need tons of iron.

M3PsrBKZ9g

(Best Beginner Seed)

Eikthyr is extremely close to spawn, while all other bosses are also on the spawn island.

nquVLMICdQ

This seed contains 3 Maypoles all within a radius of each other just northwest of spawn. You can access the village with these maypoles through a landbridge. The map offers well-paced progression since bosses and traders are all spaced out.

eitrElder

If you don't fancy sailing but want access to every major biome, then this seed is for you. You spawn on a supercontinent with every biome accessible by foot.

Smokyonion

Not interested in the Deep North? This seed takes you directly south into the Ashlands. In the southeast part of the map, you have easy access to the Ashlands thanks to how close one of the islands is to the landmass.

LbnpRFp9Xj

(Best for Sailing)

After several seeds of supercontinents, everything is close to spawn. This last seed flips all of that and is absolutely perfect for those who truly love exploring. The islands are spaced out by large open oceans, perfect for the Viking and Norse theme; best of all, it's best when sailing with friends.

Why do Seeds matter in Valheim?

In most open-world games, world generation follows a set of rules that dictate the location of resources, bosses, and other procedurally generated items and POIs. This is why certain Seeds can feel extremely slow or just not fun to play, whether it's poor terrain generation or just a lack of resources.

Best Settings for Valheim 1.0 (World Presets)

Valheim can be a breeze once you're familiar with the game. Players learn enemy attack patterns and when raids will happen through play. Meanwhile, resource gathering remains tedious and almost like a chore in the late game, and it's slow in the early game. Improve your Valheim experience with these settings.

Why these settings are the best

These settings aim to address Valheim's difficulty and pacing issues. Hard combat makes the game feel rewarding when you can overcome enemies while punishing you for being careless. Reduced death penalty allows you to learn from your mistakes and prevents new players from quitting after 1 death. Finally, slightly bumping the resource-gathering rate lets you progress through the game much faster while still maintaining a sense of balance.
