Fighting-type Pokémon are the best matchup against Normal, Ice, Rock, Dark, and Steel. Attacks against these five are super-effective, dealing 160% damage. Defensively, Fighting types take reduced damage from Rock, Bug, and Dark moves. In PvE battles, having a Fighting type on the roster is great against Gym defenders (like Blissey and Snorlax) and tearing through Raid bosses like Terrakion, Kyurem, Registeel, and Tyranitar, dealing 256% double super-effective damage against dual-typed targets like Dark/Rock or Ice/Steel.
PvE Raid Rankings
- Mega Apex: Mega Lucario (Force Palm + Aura Sphere) and Mega Blaziken (Counter + Aura Sphere) are the peak Fighting-type attackers, boosting Fighting-type attack damage for all allies in a Raid. Mega Heracross is a great secondary pick.
- Shadow Powerhouses: Shadow Conkeldurr (Force Palm + Dynamic Punch), Shadow Machamp, and Shadow Blaziken dominate non-Mega raid charts. Don't sleep on Terrakion (using Double Kick + Sacred Sword) as an option either.

- Ultra League: Cobalion (Double Kick + Sacred Sword / Stone Edge) and Virizion are the best picks in this pool. Meanwhile, Annihilape remains a dominant threat, while Pangoro and Obstagoon are great matchups against Dark and Steel types.
Optimal Movesets & Weather Mechanics
- Fast Moves: Counter is widely considered one of the best Fast Moves in the entire game because of its high damage and energy generation. Force Palm (exclusive/event) and Double Kick provide incredible energy pacing, while Karate Chop offers fast-spam capabilities.
- Charged Moves: Aura Sphere (Lucario/Blaziken) and Sacred Sword (Terrakion/Cobalion/Virizion) are perfect, low-cost moves with huge damage-per-energy (DPE) ratios. Dynamic Punch and Superpower are great secondary options, though Superpower requires careful management due to its self-debuff.

Is Mega Lucario better than Mega Blaziken for Raids?
They're neck-and-neck, but Mega Lucario generally pulls ahead if it has its legacy move Force Palm paired with Aura Sphere. Additionally, Lucario's dual Steel/Fighting typing grants it more defensive resistances, keeping it on the field longer to maintain the 30% lobby damage boost for your raid partners.
Why is Counter considered such a legendary move in PvP?
In Pokémon GO's battle math, most moves trade off between high energy generation or high damage output. Counter breaks this balance by offering well-above-average stats in both damage (4.0 DPT) and energy generation (3.5 EPT), making almost any Pokémon that learns it an instant PvP threat.
How do I manage self-debuffing moves like Superpower in PvP?
Moves like Superpower drop your Pokémon's Attack and Defense by one stage after use. To avoid getting punished, use it as a finishing move to faint the opponent's active Pokémon, or trigger the move right before swapping out so your stat drops reset when your Pokémon leaves the field.
