Bungie is releasing the first major endgame content for Marathon this weekend. Starting Saturday, March 21, players can access the new Ranked Mode.
This activity is restricted to weekends only. This guide explains how to enter, what items you need, and how this mode works.
Ranked Mode
Ranked Mode is the new competitive ladder for Marathon. Instead of standard kills, your score is tied to the value of the loot you successfully extract.
Schedule and Location
- When: Weekends only. The first run starts Saturday, March 21, at 1:00 PM ET and ends Tuesday, March 24, at 1:00 PM ET.
- Map: The map rotates each weekend. The first weekend takes place on the Perimeter map.
Minimum Requirements to Enter
You must meet these requirements to queue for Ranked.
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Runner Level | Reach Level 25 |
| Holotag Needed | You must have a Holotag item in your backpack. You can buy these in the Armory or steal them from enemies. |

How It Works
Your Holotag determines your rank (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, or Pinnacle) and gives you a Score Target.
- To gain rank: You must loot valuable items to reach your Score Target, and then successfully extract. You earn bonus points by stealing enemy Holotags or Tag Chips.
- To lose rank: If you die during the match, you lose points based on the value of your team's Holotags. If you extract before reaching your Score Target, you earn zero points, but you do not lose rank.
