The Season 2 release for Marathon also included night raids and a brand-new Runner Shell. Sentinel is a Runner Shell dedicated to defense rather than offense, acting as a direct counter to shells like Destroyer. Sentinel is a Runner Shell that rewards players who have amazing map knowledge and awareness, so if you are interested in learning the best build, here's your guide.
Best Sentinel Build for Season 2
Like with other Runner Shells, some will do better in group play rather than solo; luckily, Sentinel can excel in either. Success in solo or group play will depend entirely on the player's playstyle. Despite being a defensive-focused Runner Shell, Sentinel can still be played thanks to his Trait and Tactical offensively.
Sentinel Abilities Explained
Prime: Defender System
Sentinel drops an anti-projectile device similar to a Trophy System from CoD. It intercepts incoming projectiles like grenades and rockets. While deployed, the Defender System boosts the reload speed and weapon stability for the player and other allies within its radius.
It can only intercept a limited amount of projectiles, but when used wisely, it can singlehandedly stop an enemy from pushing your position. It directly counters the Prime ability of Destroyer and can even nullify players using the Biotoxic Disinjector for a limited time.
Tactical: Snare Mine
Sentinel deploys a stun mine that can be placed on the floor or stuck to walls. Enemies within its radius are stunned for a short period, allowing players to land easy headshots.
Trait: Prey Tracker
When active, enemies moving in front of Sentinel have their locations shown to the player in real time. This ability works even if enemies are behind walls.
Trait: Castle Doctrine
SMGs, Shotguns, and Pistols ready faster after sprinting or performing an action; these weapons also receive a reload speed bonus. When players receive AoE damage, Sentinel gets a boost to Self Repair Speed, Hardware, and Firewall.
Best Sentinel Loadout
Gun Loadout
Sentinel is a close-range specialist with boosts to all close combat weapons. While amazing in certain situations, having 2 close-range weapons can be detrimental, especially when playing solo. So, for weapon choices, balance must be achieved by having 1 close-range weapon and 1 medium-long-range weapon.

Best Cores and Implants for Sentinel
Core 1: Flight Response
Great for getting out of sticky situations by sprinting away thanks to increased heat capacity. Paired with a Snare Mine, Sentinel can easily distance himself from losing gunfights.
Core 2: Eminent Domain or Wellness Beacon
Either of these is great for Sentinel. However, Eminent Domain should be seen as a luxury rather than a necessity. While grenade spammers do exist, it's not guaranteed that every match will have one.
Wellness Beacon is a great overall choice for sustaining yourself and your team in extended gunfights. It encourages team play and is still viable for solo play.
Implants
The implants chosen are intended to provide a balanced gameplay feel. Sentinel does not necessarily benefit from getting more mobility, since his kit is all about weathering the enemy down. Hence, the Implants are designed to sustain you and the team, whether you choose to play offensively or defensively.
Since implants come in different tiers, choose the tier that you can easily sustain throughout multiple runs. V2 and V3 offer decent value for the performance, and going any lower is just a waste of resources.
