How to Unlock Weapons

Of all the other COD titles, Modern Warfare 3 has the largest roster of weapons, mainly because many weapons found in MW3 were ported from Modern Warfare 2. The plethora of gadgets and things that go boom can be a dream come true for veterans, but those who didn’t play MW2 might find the selection daunting.

Thankfully, there’s a new progression system introduced in the game that makes the process of unlocking weapons and perks easier compared to the previous MW title. Let’s look at Armory Unlocks, how they work, and how to unlock all weapons in Modern Warfare 3.

Modern Warfare 3 Armory Unlock Guide

The weapons and equipment found in Modern Warfare 3 can’t be unlocked traditionally by gaining player levels. Instead, you can unlock them by completing a series of challenges known as Armory Unlocks.

Armory Unlocks will be available once you’re at Level 25. They can be viewed at the Challenges tab of the game’s start menu. By completing these challenges, you can virtually unlock any item in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3—including weapons, perks, attachments, killstreaks, and Aftermarket Parts.

The menu within Armory Unlock has 58 challenges in total—not including weapon attachments—which can be selected separately from the Gunsmith menu. Player Modern Warfare Zombies can also unlock some Armory Unlock challenges. For example, Semtex Grenades are usually found in the Armory Unlock system. Still, if you manage to extract in MWZ with the Semtex in your inventory, it’ll become a usable item in Multiplayer mode.

With that in mind, it’s best to focus on completing challenges for perks and Aftermarket Parts since weapons and equipment can be earned faster by playing Modern Warfare Zombies.

How to Complete Modern Warfare 3 Armory Unlock Challenges

Armory Unlocks in Modern Warfare 3 require you to complete a set of daily challenges in Multiplayer. To view your daily challenges, go to the Multiplayer menu on the left side of your screen.

Three daily challenges are generated each day; complete those three challenges, and you’ll get a fourth repeatable daily until the reset happens (around 5:00 UTC). The repeatable challenge will always be “Win a Multiplayer match,” so it’s relatively easy to accomplish. By unlocking a daily challenge, you can slowly fill your progress meter on one of the Armory Unlocks—completing items in the All tab sequentially.

You can choose which unlocks you want to progress by opening the Armory Unlocks menu and queuing the challenges you want to do first. Challenges can be queued up three at a time. Note that any challenge can be queued when you unlock this system, with no level restrictions.

Tips for Unlocking Weapons Fast in Modern Warfare 3

You can unlock guns in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare using the following methods:

• Do seasonal content
• Rank up your player
• Earn MW2 weapons
• Complete weekly challenges
• Complete Armory Unlock challenges

Do Seasonal Content

It’s always best to watch out for any seasonal updates if you’re after weapons. The developers promised that more items will be added to Modern Warfare 3, including free functional weapons for Season 1. Much like in Modern Warfare 2, you can expect new guns to be added to the game as part of future seasonal updates.

Rank Up Your Player

This method is as simple as it sounds; earning player XP lets you unlock more guns when reaching certain Military Rank milestones. This is one of the more tedious ways to complete Armory Unlock challenges, but you can cut down your playtime by regularly doing career and daily challenges. Plus, you can use Double XP Boost Tokens whenever you have them.

Earn MW2 Weapons

Any weapons you’ve already earned in Modern Warfare 2 can automatically be used in Modern Warfare 3 using the Carry Forward feature. However, if you haven’t played MW2 or earned all the weapons in time for MW3’s launch, don’t worry—you can still unlock all the previous game’s weapons while playing Modern Warfare 3. You can complete specific multiplayer challenges or extract MW2 weapons in Modern Warfare Zombies.

Complete Weekly Challenges

Weekly challenges are available in every proper season and pre-season of Modern Warfare 3. You get a weapon as your reward if you complete five weekly challenges. Sometimes, the reward can be an attachment instead, though. If you get all the weekly rewards for the season, you’ll unlock a seasonal cosmetic reward as a nice bonus.

Complete Armory Unlock Challenges

Armory Unlock challenges are a new system that lets players unlock weapons, perks, killstreaks, attachments, and other equipment. You can earn items from the Armory by order or choose to ‘Activate’ a weapon to be your current active Armory unlock Challenge to earn points for it. The best part is that you don’t have to worry if you change your mind about a weapon mid-completion since the progress you’ve gained in Armory Unlock challenges is automatically saved whenever you decide to activate a new one.
