The System Within Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
In this day and age, first-person shooters have progression systems, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is no different. To give players a reason to keep playing, the game has the following:
- Level – This determines what weapons you can access.
- Level Rewards – Items granted to you after leveling up.
- Prestige System – After gaining 10 levels, players attain Prestige. They can use it to reset their level back to 1 and in turn gain rewards. This can be repeated ten times. Each of these ten levels of Prestige have their own Prestige Emblem which you can wear to show off to everyone that’s in the lobby with you. Some of the rewards that you can get in the system are emblem graphics, title graphics, extra custom class slots, and more.
- Permanent Unlock Tokens – Obtained through Prestige, these tokens are spent on items that will be on your account for an indefinite period of time. You can find these tokens in the multiplayer section. Permanent unlock tokens are mostly used on higher level gear. If you found a weapon that you enjoy but you can only use for a couple of times, you can use the permanent unlock tokens to have it added to your inventory indefinitely.
- Black Ops 4 Skins – Cosmetic items that allow you to change your avatar’s appearance.
While gaining levels, prestige, permanent unlock tokens, and everything else in between are part of the game, not everyone has the time and patience to do so. Some would prefer to jump in on the high-level competitive play right from the get-go with an account complete with more advanced weapons and items.
What’s New With Call of Duty: Black Ops 4?
The usual “more of the same” complaints from the same people couldn’t be more wrong, as Black Ops 4 is bringing–or rather, bringing back the serious and seriously fun gameplay. The biggest reason for the game’s competitive spirit has been reignited is the return of League Play. Closer to that of MOBA’s the goal of Black Ops 4 ranking system is to see who the best is and whose hunger for victory is most compelling.
Another returning set of features that has diversified Black Ops IV Gameplay are the following game modes:
- Hardpoint – COD’s King of the Hill, players have to seize certain points called hardpoints in the map and defend it to earn points. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
- Domination – A game mode which requires players to seize all three points on the map for their team in order to win.
- Control – Players either defend or attack a particular objective and then switch roles the next round.
Aside from bringing back these classic game modes, Black Ops 4 will also be cashing on an immensely popular game mode right now: Battle Royale. Called Blackout, the game mode needs no explanation: you, many other players, every man or woman for themselves, one map that gets smaller as time goes on, and only one survivor in the end.
Finally, Zombie Mode will also be making a comeback. This particular mode has so many features that it can even be a separate game. It’s got separate zombie campaigns and even a sword and a mystical scepter in it, making it one terrifyingly unique experience.
