Where to Farm Frostbite Shackles in Last Epoch
You can farm the Frostbite Shackles as a rare drop in the Blood, Frost, and Death Monolith Timeline. Specifically, you must defeat the Frost Lich Formosus the Undying. Before you dive into this battle like a headless chicken, we’d like to impart a few tips to help you defeat him.
- Since the Frost Lich Formosus can teleport, you must search for him. Make this your priority because if you don’t find him quick enough, he can one-shot you.
- He has four minions (Undead Wengari) that will fight with him; they can be resurrected. The only one you need to worry about for the most part is the Matriarch, since she’s fast and her jump-slam can deal tons of damage because of Earthquake. The best strategy you can do is to kill the three other minions first and then focus on the Matriarch. Since Formosus can only resurrect one minion at a time, you have a better chance of dealing with the Matriarch if everyone else is dead.
- Formosus specializes in Necrotic and Cold damage. With that in mind, you should increase your resistance to these.
- The boss has a Slow, so make sure to have a movement ability to counter it if you want to avoid getting hit by his other spells.
- Formosus can create an ice patch that doesn’t deal any damage but slows you. Thankfully, it’s easy to see on the ground, so try to avoid it.
- The Monolith boss can summon a Frost Spirit that will follow and damage you. It’s pretty hard to dodge, but it’s possible to tank its damage since it doesn’t do as much. However, if you’re using a squishy class or build, it’s best to try and kill it.
- Formosus usually summons several Ice Whirlwinds that deal Cold DoT (Damage over Time), and it gets stronger over time. You can dodge them easily since they move slowly, though.
- Once Formosus channels his Necrotic Beam in front of you for a few seconds, be on your guard. After he unleashes it, it gets stronger over time. This is one attack you must actively avoid, regardless of whether you are tanky or not.
As long as you avoid his attacks—notably the Necrotic Beam—and the Matriarch’s jump-slam while dealing consistent damage, you’ll defeat Frost Lich Formosus in no time.
How to Increase Your Chances of Getting the Frostbite Shackles
You can obtain the Frostbite Shackles as a drop elsewhere or just by going through the normal Monolith difficulty but switching to Empowered Monoliths will increase your chances significantly. Ramping up the Corruption level is another way of boosting your prospects of getting the Unique gloves.b
