Hallow's End Event and Headless Horseman Guide

WoW’s Hallow's End is ongoing, meaning the Headless Horseman has reappeared in Azeroth. This period allows players to obtain many coveted rewards and gold, including the event mount. Here’s what you need to know.

WoW Classic Hallow's End Overview

• The Event runs from October 18 to November 1
• Hallow's End is a Forsaken Celebration revolving around their freedom from the Lich King.
• You can earn treats by doing various activities during the season.
• You can fight the Headless Horseman in Scarlet Monastery and possibly obtain The Horseman's Reins.

Some questlines and challenges provide various rewards that you should farm to make the most out of the event. In this guide, we’ll show you only the most relevant information regarding each quest, challenge, or activity so you can quickly complete them.

Jack-o-Lantern

You can get this 18+ slot bag from any level 60+ mob, while the 16-slot WoW Classic Pumpkin Bag can be obtained from level 50+ mobs. (Bosses count for this.) 

The Headless Horseman

You’ll need to be level 75 to queue up for The Headless Horseman via the Dungeon Finder or to summon it. This fight has three phases, and the boss regenerates some health between stages. All his skills and telegraphs can be quickly learned, so our main advice for this fight is to focus all DPS and heavy attacks on the Head of the Horseman. As soon as it becomes untargetable, focus everything you have on it.

You can get several rewards from the fight, but the mount will only drop from the Loot-Filled Pumpkin drop. You can only get this once every day for the first time completion, but the rings can be continuously farmed. Here are all the PERMANENT rewards from this fight:

• The Horseman's Reins (Ground and Flying Mount)

• Seal of the Petrified Pumpkin (Physical DPS Ring)

• Weighted Jack-o'-Lantern (Toy)

The Creepy Crate Pet

You can obtain this event-limited pet by finishing a questline, starting with A Friend in Need. You can accept this from Candace Fenlow (Horde) or Gretchen Fenlow (Alliance).

WoW Classic Hallow's End Vendor

The Tricky Treats you obtain from doing quests can be used to buy certain wares via the Hallow's End Vendor, Chub. Most of the items that Chub sells are permanent, except for one. Here’s everything you can buy from the Hallow's End Vendor:

• Sinister Squashling (Pet) = 150 Tricky Treat
• Little Wickerman (Toy) = 150 Tricky Treat
• Feline Familiar (Pet) = 150 Tricky Treat
• Tooth Pick (Toy) = 2 Tricky Treat
• Magic Broom (Temporary Mount) = 150 Tricky Treat

Halloween Achievements and Challenges

The goal for doing challenges is to acquire The Hallowed title via the Hallowed Be Thy Name achievement, which you can obtain by completing other accolades. Some of these can be done after the event, so focus on the ones that can only be completed during the event first. Here are all the event achievements that you need to complete.

Tricks and Treats

This achievement requires finding Candy Buckets in inns and other social locations. There are five related challenges, so you’ll need to visit several locations to obtain them all. Each achievement rewards you with 10 points in the tab. Here are all the Candy Buckets locations for each region:

Rotten Hallow

For Alliance, meet up with Sergeant Hartman outside Stormwind City and complete the following quests:

• Crashing the Wickerman Festival
• The Power of Pine

For the Horde, meet up with Darkcaller Yanka in the courtyard outside the Undercity and complete the following quests:

• Rotten Eggs
• Ruined Kegs
• Stinking Up Southshore

The Savior of Hallow's End

You must complete either “Let the Fires Come,” or the “Stop the Fires” quest to get this. If you need help, try completing the quest by choosing the more popular villages or attempting it after resets. Goldshire (Alliance), Brill (Horde), Kharanos, and Razor Hill are the best villages to do these missions.

Check Your Head

You need to put Weighted Jack-o'-Lantern on ten players from both the Horde and Alliance. You can get up to five pieces of this item via the Village Fires dailies and as a drop from the Headless Horseman. We recommend gamers do this in Dalaran. However, it would help if you took note of the following:

• You cannot put this on NPCs, and putting a Weighted Jack-o'-Lantern on players already wearing one will consume one stack but will not progress your bar.
• You can put one on your head, which will count toward your progression.
• Throwing this toy on a PvP-flagged player won't flag you for PvP.
• You can do this even when the event is over.

The Masquerade

It would help if you asked other players to do it since you can't transform yourself with your wands. The best way to do this is to join a party, look for other gamers trying to accomplish this achievement and take turns transforming each other. You can get Wands from doing Trick-or-Treat activities. 

The Sparking Smile

You need to use a Tooth Pick, which you can get via multiple sources (Headless Horseman, Crudely Wrapped Gift, Daily Quests, and Treat Bag).

Sinister Calling

You can get this by acquiring the Sinister Squashling and the Hallowed Helm. If you farm the Headless Horseman, you’ll eventually complete this achievement.

G.N.E.R.D. Rage

You need to get 50 Honorable Kills while under the G.N.E.R.D. buff. You can get this item via Handful of Treats from Candy Buckets. We advise players to pop the buff before they do the Rotten Hallow quest. You also have a better chance of completing this achievement by doing battleground or Wintergrasp while the buff is active.

Trick or Treat

It’s the easiest achievement because all you need to do is obtain a Handful of Treats. 

The Mask Task and A Mask for All Occasions

You do not need these two achievements to complete the Hallowed Be Thy Name challenge. However, if you want to collect this, you need to obtain all 20 Flimsy masks, which you get from Treat Bags and Crudely Wrapped Gifts.
