Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2 Best Tactical Build and Guide

Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2 Best Tactical Build and Guide

The Tactical class is the jack-of-all-trades role in Space Marine 2, though it slightly specializes in the use of its primary weapons. This class has all three weapon types available, making it an option for players who want to have a solution to every problem the game throws at them. We’ll show you how you can build your Tactical Marine to become the most versatile fighter.

Tactical Class Mechanics and Passive

While the Tactical class doesn’t have anything unique going for it aside from the class rewarding the use of multiple weapons, they do have a valuable Wargear with the Auspex Scan. This skill allows them to target a certain area. When enemies are caught in the scan, they’re highlighted in orange and are more vulnerable to damage from you and your allies.

This class’ passive ability is that any holstered ranged weapon will be automatically reloaded after 10 seconds. This is a great way to ensure that you can keep up blasting enemies without wasting time on reloads.

Best Tactical Loadout and Build

The Tactical class has the widest access to primary weapons in the game, with over 8 weapons to pick from. However, there are some primaries that make it stand out among the rest. In particular, the Melta Rifle has been making the rounds in Operations due to its high damage, horde cleave and stagger values, making it extremely powerful at close range fights. Other than the Melta Rifle, you’re stuck with the Bolt Pistol and the Chainsword. Ideally, you should chase for the Gathalamor Crusade and Aquilan Dedication variants, respectively.

As for the perk build, you should take the following:

Core

  • Balanced Distribution
  • Relentless Pursuit
  • Emperor's Vengeance

Team

  • Aligned Aim

Gear

  • Priority Targeting
  • Precise Calibration
  • Expert Timing

Signature

  • Marked for Death

To explain, your Core skills are made to augment your primary weapons heavily, granting you more ranged damage after executing a Gun Strike and granting you ammo for killing a Majoris target, which feeds your primary gunplay loop even more.

The Team perk Aligned Aim is a no-brainer pick as even 5% extra damage goes a long way into making gunfights easier to deal with, especially when you’re using a Melta Rifle.

Your Gear perks are chosen to maximize the Auspex Scan’s damage vulnerability effect, with Expert Timing and Precise Calibration adding a damage bonus while Priority Target mitigates the duration loss of Expert Timing.

Lastly, the Marked for Death Signature perk helps you instantly kill any particularly dangerous targets like Zoanthropes, Scarab Occult Terminators, Lictors and Lesser Sorcerers.

Tactical Tricks and Tips

  • Try to use your Bolt Pistol for distant targets, since its ammo reserves are a lot higher than your primary weapons. Only use your primary for Majoris targets or when there is a large swarm of Minoris enemies.
  • Use your Auspex Scan as often as possible, especially when there is an Extremis target nearby. Its cooldown is relatively fast, so use it to dispatch some of the bigger threats on the map
