Helldivers fighting in Super Earth are dying in droves to the new Leviathan warship enemy. These monstrosities have the highest pool of health among all Illuminate units, and require anti-tank weapons to penetrate their heavy armor. Its weak points aren’t easy to spot, but this guide will provide details on how to kill the Leviathan.
Leviathan Weakspots
One of the easiest weakspots to hit is the three glowing circles at the underbelly of the Leviathan. Another vulnerable part of a Leviathan is the “wings” at the side. These have 6000 health, meaning 3 EAT shots or 2 Recoiless Rifle shots should break it. When a wing is broken, this exposes a part of the Leviathan with Heavy Armor, which can be shot with the HMG support weapon, Autocannon, or HMG emplacement.
The turrets are NOT destructible and will not contribute to the Leviathan’s damage, so avoid hitting those whenever you can.
Best Anti-Tank Stratagems Against Leviathans
A couple of top Stratagems can work against them, but do note that you will need to expend a lot of ammo to kill one and have another person carry the same anti-tank weapon. Leviathans have around 20000 health, so expect to shoot this thing a lot. Here are some Stratagems you can use and an estimate of how many shots they take:
- SPEAR: 5 direct shots
- Anti-Tank Emplacement: 14 direct shots
- Recoiless Rifle: 6 direct shots
The Commando is not recommended, as a full tube of rockets cannot destroy a Leviathan, especially with its longer cooldown. The Quasar Cannon is also not recommended, as the cooldown for each shot is too long to make effective use of it.
As for offensive Stratagems, these don't provide a 1-hit kill, but they can contribute damage against a Leviathan:
- Eagle Strafing Run
- Orbital 120mm / 380mm Barrage
- Orbital Napalm Barrage
The Orbital Railcannon Strike and Orbital Laser will not track towards a Leviathan since they only target grounded targets.
Leviathan Tips and Tricks
- If you want to kill a Leviathan quickly, have two people run anti-tank weapons and use the buddy reload system for faster firing.
- When using the Anti-Tank Emplacement, place it on an objective you’re going to hold anyway so that you don’t get swarmed by Voteless and Overseers.
- Do not stand out in the open whenever a Leviathan is overhead, as its plasma shots are incredibly accurate. Make sure to get enough distance between it and always take cover while reloading.
