When you’re exploring Diablo 4’s numerous Dungeons, most of the time, you’ll have to complete a set of tasks to receive the final reward of an Aspect. If you’re done with Season of the Malignant’s storyline, I highly recommend doing Dungeons, as it provides a great way to get gear and XP. However, one Dungeon, in particular, requires you to have a key to open a final boss door.
Diablo 4 is filled with mysterious items waiting to be found—the Belfry Zakara Rusted Key is no different. With so many things to do in the game, finding uses for every dropped item can be challenging, especially if you’re too busy looking for materials. In this guide, I’ll go over exactly what the Rusted Key does, how to use it, and where to find it in Diablo 4.
What is the Diablo 4 Belfry Zakara Rusted Key?
There’s a common bug in Diablo 4 where the key automatically drops after completing the dungeon. Some users also see the Rusted Key drop within the Dungeon itself, while others see it randomly spawn in Kyovashad whenever they change World Tiers. As such, it can be confusing for players, especially if they’re not sure what to do with the item.
The Rusted Key is an area item bound to the Belfry Zakara Dungeon. You’ll need it to open a locked door to progress and fight the boss, which is located in the final area of the Dungeon.
Diablo IV: What to Do With the Rusted Key?
You can use the Belfry Zakara Rusted Key to get your character into a room where you can defeat the Drowned Seahag, the dungeon's boss. You must kill the Drowned Seahag to complete the Belfry Zakara Dungeon.
The Rusted Key drops from an elite enemy found inside the Dungeon. It’s one of the objectively th complete the Dungeon anyway, so you’re more or less required to loot the Rusted Key to proceed through the Locked Door and battle the final boss. Then, once you have the key, simply use it on the Locked Door and slay the Drowned Seahag.
Where to Find the Rusted Key in Diablo 4?
The Belfry Zakara Rusted Key can be tricky to find in Diablo 4, so here’s a step-by-step guide on getting it:
- Go to the Belfry Zakara Dungeon in the Rotspill Delta area of Hawezar. You’ll find it to the north of the Backwater Waypoint.
- Enter the Dungeon.
- Fight your way to the two Drowned Bells and defeat the wave of Elites and enemies that spawn around them.
- Travel to the Salt Scarred Marbles.
- Slay the Anchorbound Chaplain (Elite enemy).
- Retrieve the Rusted Key from his corpse.
As for finding the Locked Door, you’ll encounter it at the end of the Dungeon, where you’ll need to use it.
Defeating the Anchorbound Chaplain is easy, but some players have reported that the key’s not dropping on their end. Should this happen to you and you don’t get the key, you might need to restart your last save and pray it’ll drop the second time around.
Like all of the dungeons in Diablo 4, the layout changes each time you visit. I can’t exactly tell you where you’ll find the Anchorbound Chaplain, but thankfully, the Elite enemy is pretty easy to scout. Once you’ve destroyed the two Drowned Bells upon entering the Belfry Zakara Dungeon as your first objective, the Anchorbound Chaplain will appear on your minimap as a skull as you get closer to his position.
What if I’m Not Finished With the Main Campaign Yet?
If you’re not done with the campaign, I advise that you do so before attempting the Belfry Zakara Dungeon. You should explore all of the map as well, so you won’t have any difficulty finding the Dungeon in the future. It’s also a good idea to track down all the Altars of Lilith to get those extra ability points, which you can use to play around with your character’s build.
The Belfry Zakara Dungeon isn’t as big as the hundreds of Dungeons in Diablo 4. Still, it’ll reward you with a Legendary Aspect known as the Aspect of the Urshire Horror for your efforts.
