In Zenless Zone Zero, assembling a team requires building around your current S-ranked Agents. Since A-Rank agents are still quite powerful in the game, they can be used to support and augment whichever S-Rank you have. This guide will talk about how you can create the ideal team for Zenless Zone Zero’s S-Rank Agents.
Ellen Joe Team Comps
Ellen is currently the absolute best DPS Agent in the game, as she can stack a lot of Ice Anomaly while doing massive crit damage with just her basic attacks. To further enhance Ellen as the main DPS of the team, pick these Agents for your team:
- DPS: Ellen Joe
- Stun: Anby
- Support: Soukaku
Anby is one of your starter Agents, but her ability to Stun while dealing decent damage makes her a great option to set up bosses for a massive damage window. Even without other dedicated stunners like Koleda or Von Lycaon, Anby can still output a lot of Shock Anomaly while building up Daze.
Soukaku, on the other hand, synergizes well not just as an Ice Agent but also as a raw support character. Her Banner can provide a nice damage buff with a relatively long uptime. She can also help stack Freeze with Ellen, which with Sharkboo’s skills, will cause a lot of Shatter, Shock and Discord effects on tougher targets.
If you do have Von Lycaon, best swap Anby with him as both Ellen and Von will receive a stat bonus for being part of the same faction. Von Lycaon also functions as a Stun Agent with Ice Anomaly, so if you ever have him on your roster while also having Ellen, have the two tag team.
Alexandrina Team Comps
As a ranged Support Agent, Alexandrina can inflict Shock while providing the entire team with a PEN Ratio buff, which ignores enemy defenses and further boosts the team’s DPS output. Alexandrina is best paired with other Agents that inflict Shock, which is why you should use the following team composition:
- Support: Alexandrina
- Anomaly: Grace
- DPS: Anton
While Grace is an S-Rank Agent, she’s best paired with Alexandrina, since Rina’s PEN buff will affect Grace’s Shock uptime and damage. Once an enemy is Shocked by both Alexandrina and Grace, Anton can follow up with a high-damage combo and burst, potentially even adding his Ultimate for some insane burst.
If you are F2P and don't have Grace, you can replace Grace with Anby to help you Stun enemies. She is still a great addition to Shock teams as her basic and Special attacks deal enough Daze, though expect less Shocks to occur as Anby’s Anomaly buildup takes longer to proc.
Nekomata Team Comps
Nekomata belongs to the Physical DPS role and can output some serious damage with her charge attacks. She is unique in that her attacks also debuffs enemy Defense while boosting her own damage. Her attacks are also very fast by default, outputting some serious DPS. The best Agents to pair Nekomata are the following:
- DPS: Nekomata
- Stun: Anby
- Support: Nicole
Since Nekomata is part of the Cunning Hares faction, she, Anby, and Nicole all benefit from the extra buffs for matching all 3 Agents of the same faction. As always, Anby is perfect for setting burst windows with Daze while Nicole debuffs enemies, making Nekomata the star of the show for damage. ,
Koleda Belobog Team Comps
Koleda is one of the most powerful Stun Agents in the game, tied with Von Lycaon, as she has different passives and abilities that make her stand out. At base, Koleda’s Daze values are already fairly high, even without certain synergies. However, paired with certain characters, Koleda may become the team anchor for a lot of difficult content. Select the following Agents for your team:
- Stun: Koleda
- Defense: Ben
- DPS: Corin/Soldier 11
The reason why Ben is vital to the team comp is his synergy with Koleda. Whenever Koleda finishes a basic combo, Ben will appear to further boost her damage and Daze build-up. Not only that, Koleda’s basic combo with Ben grants her a brief moment of invulnerability while going through the attack animation. Since Ben is a free unit after completing Chapter 2 of the main story, there’s no reason not to bring him if you have Koleda.
As for your DPS, Soldier 11 is more preferable for the team as she is a Fire Agent, which boosts the entire team’s Anomaly buildup and damage. Though if you don’t have her, Corin is a good substitute for DPS and is a flexible pick for teams without any DPS options.
Zhu Yuan Team Comps
Zhu Yuan is an excellent ranged DPS alternative to Billy Kid. Not only does she deal Ether damage, but she also has a unique charge system like Grace, where after dealing a basic attack combo, she gains a charge that she can spend to deal big damage. For the optimal team comp, select the following:
- DPS: Zhu Yuan
- Stun: Anby
- Support: Nicole
As mentioned earlier, Anby is a solid Stun character that holds up even with S-Rank stunners like Koleda and Von Lycaon. However, once the game releases an Ether-based Stun character, you should swap out Anby for them as the extra Anomaly buildup and damage will help a lot.
Nicole is also one of your starter Agents and can inflict powerful debuffs on enemy groups. Not only can she lower the defense values of enemy groups, but her Special attack is a powerful crowd control tool, pulling enemies into a black hole. Since she buffs Ether damage, Zhu Yuan will greatly benefit from Nicole’s defense debuffs.
Soldier 11 Team Comps
Soldier 11 is one of the better DPS options in Zenless Zone Zero, as she plays like a Fire DPS version of Anby. Her combo attacks deal a lot of tick damage per swing and share the same delay attack mechanics as Anby. Soldier 11 has the added bonus of deflecting bullets when sprinting, making short work of the Rebel Soldier enemies. The best Agents to build around Soldier 11 are the following:
- DPS: Soldier 11
- Stun: Koleda/Ben
- Support: Lucy
This team comp is another standard mono-element team. Koleda is preferable in the second position, as using her to follow up after a Perfect Assist will inflict a lot of Daze onto an enemy. Ben is a good alternative if you need a bit more survivability in your team.
Lucy is a powerful support addition for Fire teams, as she provides potent damage buffs whenever she uses her EX Special skill. Her summoned Boards will also supplement the team with even more damage, even if she is off field.
Picking the right Agents for each team will make all the difference when doing Hollow Zero and Shiyu Defense. That‘s because exploiting enemy weaknesses, paired with the matching element buffs of a properly built team, can trivialize all of them even in Challenge mode. Make sure that you use your best Agents to their fullest potential.
