The First Descendant Valby Guide: How to Farm and Best Build

Best TFD Valby Guide Builds and Farming Tips

Valby is a high DPS Descendant that uses water to deal damage and give her mobility. In this article, we’ll look at Valby’s origins, her skills, and how to farm for her best build.

Who is Valby?

Valby can be called an environmentalist, a nature lover, or even a scientist. Whatever the case may be, Valby has a deep affinity for nature, and it saddens her to see the world’s natural beauty getting ravaged by constant wars and resource mining by the alien races, notably the Vulgus and their Kuiper mining operations.

Upon seeing a lake somewhere in the Vespers Woodland, Valby decided to protect the last bastion of hope for the region’s natural resources. She called this lake the “Last Emerald.”

She resolved to bring plants and animals to the area so they can flourish after the war. But fate had other plans.

The Vulgus attacked the Last Emerald and Valby was the only one present to defend it. Despite her efforts, she was beaten by the alien race and was thrown into the lake.

As she sank, her resolve was to accept her fate and let the water swallow her. But that’s when her survival instincts kicked in and awakened her Arche. By the time she emerged from the depths of the lake, the Vulgus had been annihilated by the immense water pressure and vanished without a trace. The very water that took Valby in was now the one she controled, becoming one with the Last Emerald.

How to Unlock Valby

Like all other Descendants, Valby can be unlocked in two ways. First through the Store, which you can purchase her for Caliber (the premium currency in The First Descendant) or through research, which requires you to obtain materials in the game. For the second option, here are the materials you need to acquire:

  • Valby Enhanced Cells

You will need at least 600,000 Credits to unlock Valby which includes the research needed to unlock the materials and research Valby.

Playstyle – How to Farm for Best Build

The best playstyle for Valby relies on her attacks that inflict the Laundry status effect. It is therefore essential to use all her active skills,as it inflicts the Laundry status that can add up to 200% more damage if 8 or more enemies are affected by the it and later hit with Laundry Bomb.

So, stack up on the Laundry effect on enemies before hitting them with it.

You can maximize the use of the Laundry effect in a party setting if you are in a group with a Chill or Electric type character for maximum damage and synergy.

Getting the Thunder Cage Submachine Gun is the best way to farm for Valby in the long run. The Overcharge effect can deal Electric AOE that goes well with Valby’s Laundry. If you are grouped with a Bunny or Viessa, they can use the same firearm for maximum effect.

Skills

Valby has five skills: one passive skill and four active skills. Her unique status effect, Laundry, is an interesting one. Enemies affected with Laundry are weak to Electric and Chill type attacks. This makes Valby a good team with Bunny (Electric) and Viessa (Chill). Here are Valby’s Skill set:

  • Bubble Bullet: A Bubble Bullet is launched forward, creating a small puddle where it lands and where Valby stands. Enemies in the puddle take continuous damage and inflicted with Laundry. When the Bubble Bullet pops, enemies nearby take additional AOE damage, which increases based on the number of bounces.
  • Plop Plop: A large puddle is created where Valby is standing. She dives in and pops out at a selected location in the large puddle. Enemies in the puddle take continuous damage and are inflicted with Laundry. This can be used as her movement Skill.
  • Clean Up: Valby turns into a liquid form (Liquefied) and can move through enemies. She gains an increase in Movement Speed and DEF while in this form. While Liquefied, Valby creates a water path that deals damage to enemies within the path and inflicts Laundry.
  • Laundry Bomb: Changes the equipped weapon to the Laundry Bomb Launcher. A Laundry Bomb is created when the Launcher is fired. This pulls in enemies affected by Laundry and deals continuous damage. Best used if enemies are already inflicted with Laundry.
  • Water Intake (Passive): Using Skills while standing on water consumes less Mana (up to 30% Mana cost reduction).

Best Modules

Modules greatly enhance the Descendant’s overall performance, their Skills, and their stats. Here are the best Modules for Valby:

  • Technician: Increase Skill Power Modifier.
  • Skill Extension: Increase Skill Duration.
  • Technique Manual: Deal additional damage based on a portion of your Max HP when landing a Skill Attack. This has an eight second cooldown per enemy target.
  • HP Concentration: Increase Max HP and Critical Hit Rate.
  • Skill range Mastery: Increase Skill Critical Hit Damage and Skill Effect Range.
  • Shock Punch: Sub-Attack turns into Shock Punch and increases Max Module Capacity.
  • Nimble Fingers: Cooldown Reduction.
  • Increased HP: Increases Max HP.
  • Skill Expansion: Increase Skill Effect Range.
  • Increased Shield: Increases Max Shield.
  • Increased DEF: Increases Defense stat.

Best Weapons

Valby has three weapons to choose from: the Thunder Cage Submachine Gun, Nazeistra’s Devotion, and Afterglow Sword. Here are the reasons why you should take these weapons:

  • Thunder Cage Submachine Gun: Inflicts Overcharge which generates a shockwave to defeated enemies. Succeeding firearm attacks deal increase damage. [Best weapon mods: Hawk-Eye, Reload Concentration, Rifling Reinforcement, Concentrate Support Ammo, Electric Conductor, Action and Reaction, Marksman, Weak Point Control, Weak Point Sight, Fire Rate Up]
  • Nazeistra’s Devotion: Decreases DEF stat of enemies when hit through their Weak Points. The effect lasts three seconds. [Best weapon mods: Weak Point Control, Weak Point Sight, Rifling Reinforcement, Hawk-Eye]
  • Afterglow Sword: Hitting enemy Weak Points will deal an additional 5% Weak Point Damage per stack. [Best weapon mods: Weak Point Control, Weak Point Sight, Rifling Reinforcement, Hawk-Eye, Concentrate Support Ammo, Marksman]

Best Reactor Stats

Valby is a Non-Attribute Descendant therefore, she has two options for Reactors:

  • Materialized Mixture: Boosts Non-Attribute and Fusion types (Bubble Bullet, Laundry Bomb)
  • Materialized Phase: Boosts Non-Attribute and Dimension types (Plop Plop, Laundry)

You can choose any Materialized or Mixture or Phase reactors as these will enhance Valby’s skills, depending on the Reactor used. However, it is recommended that you get the Materialized Phase or Materialized Mixture to benefit from their buffs.
