Ashenfall is a dangerous and unexplored frontier in the world of Gielenor. Exploring the uncharted frontier is full of risks and dangers, which makes armor an essential part of Runescape Dragonwilds. After the first 2 zones, players gain access to the Fractured Plains, where enemies are significantly more deadly and aggressive.
Because of this, players need to adapt to the growing challenges, and one way to do so is to craft better armor. One of the most important items for crafting better armor is Hard Leather. Here is how you get it.
How to make Hard Leather in Runescape Dragonwilds
Unlocking the Furnace and Crafting Bronze
The first step to crafting Hard Leather is building a Furnace. The Furnace is an important workstation that lets players forge metal ingots. This workstation is the gateway to unlocking the other required workstations to craft Hard Leather.
Once you have built a Furnace, you will then need to gather at least 3 Copper Ore and 3 Tin Ore. These ores are commonly found in the Fractured Plains. Copper ore has a dull brown and yellow color, while Tin ore is bright and metallic. Bring these ores to the Furnace with fuel to make a few Bronze Bars.

Building a Sawmill
Once you have the Bronze Bars, the next step is to build a Sawmill. This workstation requires Bronze Bars to build and produces Ash Planks, which are required to build the Tanner’s Kit. The Sawmill can also be used to produce other types of planks once you can harvest them.

How to unlock Tanner’s Kit and make Hard Leather
After finally unlocking the previous workstations, we can finally make Tanner’s Kit. This crafting station produces Hard Leather, which is essential for most equipment at this stage of the game. You will also need some Coarse Thread, which can be made from Flax at the Spinning Wheel, as well as some Adhesive crafted through the Kiln with Swamp tar.
Once you have built the Tanner’s Kit, you can start using it to produce Hard Leather. To make Hard Leather, you will need 2 Leather and 1 Adhesive. Both of these items can be made from the beginner workstations.
