PoE 2 Free Weekend How to Play and What You Can Do

Path of Exile 2 is hosting its first free-to-play weekend, running from August 29 to September 1. This means that everyone gets to play PoE 2, and you don’t need a key to get into Wraeclast. While there are still some limitations on what you can do during this period, the free weekend will serve as the real stress test for the game. Here is how you can play PoE 2 during the F2P period and what to do.

How to Play Path of Exile 2 During Free Weekend

You need to have an account to play Path of Exile 2 from August 29 to September 1. However, you can only download and install the game during this period, as pre-downloading is only available to those with an Early Access Key. If you have a pre-existing Path of Exile account, you can use it to log in to the PoE 2 client during the F2P weekend. To play during this period, you have to install the client on the following platforms:

  • com
  • Steam
  • Epic
  • Xbox
  • PlayStation 5

What Can I Play During the PoE 2 Free Weekend

The good news is that nothing is barred from all F2P players playing this weekend. All content will be available, even the new Third Edict major update. There is also no progression cap during this period so that you can reach the current max level until the free-to-play weekend ends. However, once the event ends, you won’t be able to re-access this content and characters until the game is fully released.

What to Do After the Free Weekend

The only way you can continue playing Path of Exile 2 after the free weekend is to get an Early Access Key by buying a PoE 2 Supporter Pack. Alternatively, you can wait for the game's full release because Path of Exile 2 will become completely free-to-play by then.

Does My Progression Carry Over to the Full PoE 2 Release?

Yes. Everything you do during the Path of Exile 2 Free Weekend will stay on your account until the full release. All characters you played, free cosmetics you unlock, and microtransactions that you bought will carry over and will still be available when the game enters 1.0. If you still don’t plan on buying Path of Exile 2 Supporter Packs to get an Early Access key, you’ll have to wait until the full release to use your account again.
