OSRS Mastering Mixology Guide

OSRS’ latest update Varlamore features a new Herblore minigame known as Mastering Mixology, that allows players to level their Herblore skills. This minigame can be found in Aldarin within the continent of Varlamore. Mastering Mixology involves the use of Herblore to fill out orders for different potions. Many players looking to start this minigame may have a tough time figuring out its mechanics. Worry not! We’ve got you covered in this guide.

To unlock this minigame, you’ll need to reach 60 Herblore. Also, it's best to bring a massive supply of herbs for easier leveling.

Creating Mox, Lye and Aga Paste

Mox, Lye, and, Aga paste are the core components for this minigame as you’ll use these to create the potions needed to fill out the orders. To start creating these pastes, you’ll need to take certain herbs and unfinished potions into the refiner machine. Here’s a list of which herbs turn into the paste you need:

  • Mox paste
    • Guam leaf
    • Marrentill
    • Tarromin
    • Harralander
  • Lye paste
    • Ranarr weed
    • Toadflax
    • Avantoe
    • Kwuarm
    • Snapdragon
  • Aga paste
    • Irit leaf
    • Huasca
    • Cadantine
    • Lantadyme
    • Dwarf weed
    • Torstol

Once you’ve refined your paste, place them in the hopper to store for mixing.

Creating Potions

After depositing your paste, head to the mixer. The mixer will have 3 colored levers based on the 3 pastes, with Mox being blue, Lye being red, and Aga green.

Before mixing, you’ll see on the top left corner of your HUD, 3 potions that you’ll need to create. The recipe for each potion is very easy to figure out, as the first letter of every word in the potion corresponds to the pastes you need to add.

For example, the potion Marley’s MooLight (MML) requires the input of Mox, Mox, and Lye. As for the potion Anti-LeechLotion (ALL), input Aga, Lye, and Lye. Again, the first letter of each word will correspond with the letter of the paste you need to add.

Once you’ve inputted the correct pastes for a potion, the icon to the left of the potion’s name will indicate the process you need to refine the unfinished potion.

  • The icon with the letter V will require you to process the potion in the Agitator workstation. Click on the Agitator again when you see the fireworks effect on the workstation
  • The icon that looks like a bottle means you must process the potion in the Alembic workstation. Click on the Alembic again when you hear the 5th pump of the bellows.
  • The icon that looks like a cauldron means you should process the potion in the Retort workstation. Simply spam click on the Retort to finish the potion.

Once you’ve refined your potions, deposit them into the conveyor belt

Bonus Digweed

While this isn’t important for the minigame, the chat log will occasionally indicate that a Digweed has grown in one of the four corners of the room. If you click on the Digweed, you can add it to the potion you’re making for bonus Herblore experience. Be quick though, as the Digweed has a limited duration and will die if you do not pick it up.

Paste Resin

Mox resin, Lye resin, and Aga resin are your reward currencies for filling out orders. You can spend these with Supervisor Lalo for different potion packs, alchemy outfits, and storage items for easier Hebrlore leveling.
