In Old School RuneScape, fairy rings are one of the most basic transportation systems, and unlocking them is a fantastic quality of life improvement for anyone since getting from one place to another will become easier. Navigating the fairy ring network might seem daunting initially, but with practice, you'll find it an indispensable part of your OSRS experience. It allows for rapid travel to often-visited locations, making tasks like resource gathering, clue scroll hunting, and slayer assignments significantly more efficient.
How to Gain Access to Fairy Rings OSRS
To unlock the fairy rings in OSRS, you'll need to train specific skills to meet the requirements of the relevant quests.
Lost City
You’ll need level 36 Woodcutting, level 31 Crafting, and a decent combat level. This quest is essential as it unlocks the entry to Zanaris, the fairy city, which is crucial for accessing the fairy rings.
Nature Spirit and The Restless Ghost
These two quests are required for starting the Fairytale 1 quest.
Fairytale Part I - Growing Pains
This quest unlocks the ability to start the quest that unlocks the fairy rings themselves: Fairytale Part 2.
Progress Through "A Fairy Tale Part II - Cure a Queen"
During this quest, you'll finally gain access to the fairy rings. Be prepared, as this quest involves a series of complex tasks, including fighting a rather challenging boss. It's advisable to have decent combat gear and supplies.
How to Use the Fairy Rings OSRS
You must first obtain a Dramen Staff or a Lunar Staff to use the fairy rings. The Dramen Staff is crafted during the "Lost City" quest. To make this staff, you'll journey to Entrana, a peaceful island where combat items are prohibited. Here, you must locate the Dramen Tree inside the cave on the island. After defeating a level 101 Tree Spirit, which appears when you attempt to cut the tree, you can cut a Dramen Branch. With level 31 Crafting, you can turn this branch into a Dramen Staff, essential for accessing the fairy rings. Alternatively, you can use the Lunar Staff if you have completed the "Lunar Diplomacy" quest. This staff serves the same purpose as the Dramen Staff for accessing fairy rings but is a reward from the quest itself.
Once you have either of these staves, you can use the fairy rings by wielding the staff and clicking on any active fairy ring. A menu will appear, prompting you to enter a three-letter code. Each code corresponds to a different location in the game, allowing you to teleport there instantly. It’s a convenient way to navigate OSRS, especially for tasks requiring traveling vast distances.
