What is Madness in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
Madness is a mechanic that affects various aspects of the game. The level of Madness Wuchang can receive is indicated on the screen. It's a high-risk and high-reward system where your character does get affected by it, but also receives boosts to their combat.
Positive Effects of Madness
Here are the effects of Madness on your Combat.
- You can unlock perks in the Impetus Repository Skill Tree that can complement Wuchang's Madness. Some of the effects will activate when you reach 50% Madness.
- At 90% Madness, you can deal more damage and can take hits. You gain more Red Mercury when you defeat enemies in this state.
- If you use your Conversion Perk in the Skill Tree, your Swift Draw ability becomes stronger and can restore health with every hit.
Negative Effects of Madness
Aside from the positives of having high Madness Levels, there are negative ones as well. Here are the effects you receive from gaining Madness.
- Dying at 95% Madness, you can lose some of your Red Mercury.
- Dying at above 50% but lower than 90% Madness, you'll lose a lot of Red Mercury.
- Dying at 90% Madness or higher, you lose all your Red Mercury.
You can still recover the lost Red Mercury by going to the location where you died, but you'll have to fight your Inner Demon to retrieve the Red Mercury.
How Do You Gain or Increase Madness in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
If you want to avoid gaining and increase your Madness in the game, here are things you can do to avoid them.
- Every time you die in the game, you increase Madness.
- Killing humans in the game will increase Madness.
- Using weapons that increase your Madness. Check the stats of your weapons to see if they add Madness when you use them.
How to Cure Madness in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
If you want to cure your Madness, you'll need to visit Alters. There's an Altar at the Shu Sanctum and one at the cliffside near the Pavilion. You'll need to interact with the Alters to cure your Madness. Aside from going to Altars, you can also defeat Feathered Enemies, zombie-like enemies, and avians, to lower your Madness. If that doesn't suit you, you can spend money on purchasing the following items to reduce your Madness or eliminate it completely.
- Fragment of the Divine Gift: Dispels some of your Madness.
- Divine Gift: Completely dispels all Madness.
