Every character and enemy in the game has a Zodiac sign, based on their birth date. This system determines how much damage your party members can deal and take from enemies born with a different Zodiac. This guide will simplify the Zodiac sign mechanic for you, so you can take advantage of it.
Character Zodiac Signs
Every character comes with an innate Zodiac sign based on their birthdate, with the exception of Ramza, as you can set his birth date and month at the start of the game.

Zodiac Combat Mechanics
During combat, the attacker and defender’s respective Zodiac signs determine if the attacker deals more or less damage. This also affects how much health a healer can restore to their targets. Depending on the compatibility, this can have 4 effects:
- Best: 50% increased effect
- Good: 25% increased effect
- Bad: 25% decreased effect
- Worst: 50% decreased effect
Each Zodiac sign has 2 Good and 2 Bad compatible signs. For example, Aries characters are Good with Leo and Sagittarius characters, while Bad with Capricorn and Cancer.
The Best and Worst compatibility effects will only occur if a character’s Zodiac sign interacts with the opposite sign on the Zodiac Wheel and is determined by gender. If the opposite signs are Male/Female, this results in the Best compatibility. If both interacting characters have the same gender, this results in the Worst compatibility.
Take note that the damage bonus and damage taken effect go both ways. For example, if your party member is a male Pisces and the enemy is a male Virgo, your party member takes 50% less damage from the enemy, but also deals 50% less damage.

Best Ramza Zodiac Choice
Since you can choose Ramza’s Zodiac sign by selecting his date of birth, you can choose how easy or difficult certain bosses are in the game. Most bosses in Tactics are Virgo, like Milleuda, Wiegraft, Argath, and Gaffgarion.
💫Note: If you want an easier time in the harder boss fights, choose Pisces for Ramza to deal more damage, at the cost of taking more damage against them. Alternatively, pick either Capricorn or Taurus for a steadier damage increase.
