Tarkov has been in 1.0 for a while now and has had ample time to make improvements and changes to the game. The question then becomes, what's next for Tarkov? BSG answered this question by introducing seasonal characters, with the first season coming very soon. Here is everything you need to know about Escape from Tarkov Season 1 Kord Breach, all modifiers, seasonal profiles, and best modifiers to use.
EFT Kord Breach Season 1 Details
Kord Breach Release Date
At the moment, BSG has not confirmed any release date for the upcoming Season 1. However, many prominent voices in the community speculate that Kord Breach could be released as early as July 27 or July 28. This is because the Blackout event ends on July 27, and historically, BSG has made large updates to the game after having a relatively long event.
Season 1 Kord Breach Explained
Main Profile vs Seasonal Profile vs PvE Profile
Once the update takes place, players will have access to 3 different profiles. The ‘main' profile is the one that players have been actively using since the release of the game. PvE profile is similar to the main profile. Neither of these profiles will receive any seasonal modifiers but will still receive seasonal content updates (new guns, armor, etc.).
The seasonal profile functions similarly to the earlier development stages of Escape from Tarkov. It will be wiped every season, with only a few things, if any, carried over to the next wipe.
Kord Breach Modifiers
Upon creating your brand new character for the season, you will be allowed to select Personal Modifiers for your character similarly to the Trait system of Project Zomboid. Other than having to select additional modifiers, all participating characters in the season will receive a Global Modifier. All players start with 0 modifier points. Each Personal Negative Modifier has a corresponding set of points which add to your modifier points. Meanwhile, Personal Positive Modifiers subtract from your total number of modifier points. Players cannot create a character with negative modifier points.
Selecting certain positive modifiers can turn off the corresponding negative modifiers. For example, the player cannot take Polyphagia if Polyphasia is selected.

Best Positive Modifiers for Season 1 Kord Breach
| Positive Modifier | Why |
|---|---|
| Hercules | Increased levels to Strength and Endurance at the start of the season are ridiculously overpowered. This modifier lets you run faster, carry more, and traverse the map much faster thanks to the speed and stamina bonuses provided by 15 levels to Strength and Endurance. |
| Sturdy Bones | For the chads out there, this modifier probably provides the most value. Leg fractures are extremely difficult to deal with because of the movement penalty. The fall damage reduction is really good for extremely aggressive players, allowing for more risky vertical plays. |
| Juice Time | Painkiller effect for drinking juice, need I say more? You get some Hydration, Energy, and the Painkiller Effect for 1 minute from consuming juice. |
| Thrombophilia | On paper, this modifier does not seem all that special since bleeds are easy to deal with, especially with stims later in the game. However, in early levels with sub-level 3 armor pen, most ammo has a high chance to cause bleeding. A 20% chance to avoid each bleed, especially in early wipe stages, is invaluable. |
| Average | This modifier is a hear-me-out situation. All skills starting at 25 is ridiculously good. Better weapon handling, more Charisma, and other quality-of-life skills are extremely beneficial to the early stages of Tarkov. Although this can backfire for those who find themselves in the later stages of Tarkov, where you are capped by your skills. |
Best Negative Modifiers for Season 1 Kord Breach
| Negative Modifier | Why |
|---|---|
| Allergic | +3 modifier points to a negligible downside. |
| Well that Hurt! | Not the best modifier to have during early wipe since you won't be swimming in medkits. But in later stages of the wipe, most players can consistently craft Salewas and IFAKs without issue. Spending more resources from medkits won't do much in the long run. |
| Personality Vacuum | Season 1 global modifiers seem to be pushing players to engage in the crafting system more. Paired with the lack of insurance, most players will generally have more money to spend. Because of this, it offsets the 20% increased costs when purchasing from traders. |
| Polydipsia | Beverages can be found all over Tarkov, in bags, on the ground, and even in scavs and PMCs. That +1 for a negligible downside is a game changer for those looking to min-max their characters. |
| Chronic Fatigue Syndrome | Same with Polydipsia except for food. Once the hideout is sufficiently upgraded, food stops being a problem in Tarkov. |
