Escape from Tarkov: How to Complete Boreas Quest FAST (Skip BTR Quest)

Icebreaker just went live on public servers, and to access this new map, players need to complete a brand-new story chapter. If you want to board that ship for loot and to defeat The Wedge, here is your guide to completing ‘Boreas’ the fastest way.

TLDR

  1. Buy the Paradigm Poster from the Flea Market or Listen to Distress Signal at Intel Center 3
  2. Speak to Mechanic
  3. Give the Armored Case to Prapor during Falling Skies
  4. Skip BTR Driver Questline, eliminate 10 targets at any smuggler camp
  5. Bring 400K Roubles and 2500 Euros and a Handheld Green Flare to the Shoreline pier to board and extract from the Icebreaker

Boreas Quest Full Walkthrough

Just like other Story chapters, Boreas features different objectives and requirements depending on other choices made in other chapters. Some of these differences make completing the chapter significantly more difficult, while others make it easier. However, this guide will focus on the fastest and easiest method for the Boreas questline.

How to Unlock the Boreas Quest

To start the Boreas quest, you must have either a Level 3 Intel Center or find a Paradigm Shipping Poster. The poster can be found on numerous maps and even in the pockets and bags of scavs. If you struggle to find one, you can purchase one from the Flea Market.

Once you have found the poster or listened to the distress signal on your intel center, speak to Mechanic while in your Hideout to receive the quest chapter.

Boreas Quest Objectives

Woods Cellular Tower

Objectives:

Locate the equipment under the cellular tower on Woods

Repair the equipment under the cellular tower on Woods

Report back to Mechanic

After speaking to Mechanic, you must head to the Scav Bunker in Woods. This area in Woods can be reached by following the road going north from the Sawmill. Make sure to bring a Toolset and repair the items directly under the giant cell tower. After repairing the items, speak to Mechanic to proceed with the next step.

Paradigm Shipping Directive Location

Objectives:

Locate and obtain the Paradigm Shipping Directive

Tell Mechanic about "Boreas"

Arrange transport to the icebreaker

Once the previous objective has been completed, players need to head over to Lighthouse to find and extract with the Paradigm Shipping Directive. The quest item is found in the warehouse near the train extraction, which is north of the water treatment plant. Back at your hideout, speak to Mechanic first and tell him about Boreas. Right after, speak to Prapor to proceed to the next step.

Fastest Method to unlock Icebreaker

Once you talk to Prapor after handing the documents, the quest effectively splits into 2 parts. The first part involves Prapor; the objectives for this segment will depend on your choices during the Falling Skies quest. For the second part, it mainly revolves around your progress on the BTR Driver questline.

Falling Skies Quest: Give the Armored Case

The fastest and easiest method for unlocking Icebreaker requires the player to GIVE the Armored Case to Prapor during the Falling Skies quest line. Doing this lets the player skip finding 3 Military Power Filters or eliminating 30 targets on Reserve.

AMG-10 Hydraulic Fluid Location

Giving the case to Prapor lets you go straight into finding the AMG-10 Hydraulic Fluid. This quest item is found on Reserve and has 6 known spawn locations.

  1. On the shelves of the Black Bishop basement near the north entrance
  2. Black Bishop basement shelves, down the hall from the first location
  3. Black Bishop's basement on the wooden pallet in front of the spotlight
  4.  Inside the Helicopter, inside one of the wooden storage crates
  5. Inside the Helicopter, underneath the ladder
  6. Near the Parade Ground Forklift, outside the Helicopter

Once found, survive and extract with the Hydraulic Fluid to proceed with the next part of the quest.

BTR Driver Questline

Once you are done with the first part, the second part can largely be skipped if you are done with the BTR Driver Quest, The Price of Independence. If you have done this quest, all you need to do is talk to the driver and return to your Hideout.

The worst possible choice is to side with Skier and complete the Choose Your Friends Wisely quest, as it will require the player to hand over 200 rounds of 7.62x54R BT ammo to the driver. Doing so can be extremely costly and time-consuming since ammo can't be placed inside safe containers, and death means losing it during a raid.

Skipped the BTR Driver Questline

If you have not done either of these, which is the most likely case, all you need to do is eliminate 10 targets at any of the smuggler camps. There are 2 camps: one at the Interchange expansion and the other at the Shoreline expansion.
