Enshrouded Wake of the Water update now allows us to upgrade our Flame Altar even further to increase our Shroud endurance and also our water source capacity. However, some of the materials needed to enhance the altar can be hard to find. This guide will show players where to obtain all the resources needed to unlock Enshrouded Flame Altar Level 9.
Strengthen the Flame – Level 9 Flame Altar Bonuses
While we all agree that upgrading the Flame Altar is always a must, it’s still a great idea to know the bonuses we’re getting from upgrading it to level 9. Various perks are highly beneficial to players, especially in the Veilwater Basin. Here are all the bonuses you get from increasing the Flame Altar Level to 9:
- Altar Activation Capacity: 10
- Water Source Capacity: 20
- Shroud Passage Level: 9
- Character Attribute Bonuses: 8
- Time in the Shroud: 13 minutes

Where to Get the Resources
Gold
You can get Gold Ore in Dragondream Lake, particularly on the island with the Dragon corpse. The Drak enemies there have a chance to drop this material. You can also find the new survivor in this area along the pier. You can also mine more Gold Ores at the Northeast part of Lake Heartblood (mineable ores can be found both on Land and Underwater). You’ll need to complete the A Tool For Underwater Mining quest to unlock underwater mining.
Green Vitriol Dust
You can craft Green Vitriol Dust with Water (5), Iron Dust (2), and Sulfur (3), all of which are relatively easy to obtain. The Iron Dust can be acquired from the Improved Mill using an Iron Bar. Make sure you have a millstone and a force generator structure to operate the Improved Mill.
Passionflower
Passionflowers are only available at night and appear as bright pink flowers. You can only find it on land, so you have to focus on looking for it on the surface. They appear randomly in the wild. If you find a plant or flower on the edge of water with a bright pink glow, they aren’t a passionflower.
Aquamarine
You can find veins of Aquamarine in the vicinity of the Dragondream Lake. There is also another vein of Aquamarine north of the Shipwreck and Orville. It’s inside a cave with an obvious entrance.
Pearl
There are two ways to obtain Pearls: farming Mother Pearls or slaying Spear Draks. You can randomly find Mother Pearls underwater, but there isn’t a fixed location. Melee Spear Draks have a chance to drop Pearls, so you might have to slay multiple enemies to get them.
Hydrak’Dal Head
For the Hydrak’Dal Head, you can obtain it from killing the Hydrak’Dal boss by following the Vengeance Quest. Alternatively, you can find this enemy in the Hydrak’Dal Temple northwest of Lake Heartblood and northeast of the Ancient Spire.
