When players create their character, they gain access to green gear and a brief intro on leveling. Killing a monster rewards XP that can be spent to upgrade core stats, abilities, combat proficiencies, and non-combat skills. As they spend points, the XP cost becomes more expensive, requiring even more XP farming to upgrade. This leveling system gives players the freedom to customize their build, even allowing them to allocate most points to skills like Lockpicking and Bartering.
Another source of power in Dreadmyst is gear. They come in different rarities: Common, Radiant, Blessed, Holy, and Godly. During the leveling experience, players will also need to constantly swap gear as each level increases the affix values that loot gets. Each rarity not only grants the highest affix values, but they also have the highest upgrade tier at +10.
Currently, there are 4 endgame dungeons and an Arena PvP mode where players can fight for glory. Dungeons are the best way to obtain high-rarity items, with the Undercourse dungeon being the most dangerous and rewarding. The last step for Dreadmyst players is to fill every slot with +10 Godly gear and dominate in the Arena.
