Destiny 2: How to get Tier 5 Gear (Monument of Triumph)

The release of Armor 3.0, along with the Monument of Triumph update, essentially changed the way gear pieces work in Destiny 2. Because of these changes, guardians are scrambling to find the best ways to get Tier 5 loot reliably. There are many methods for obtaining Tier 5 gear; however, some are more effective than others. Here is how.

Tier 5 Loot Guide

Before getting started on the grind, here is a quick checklist to see if you can drop Tier 5 Gear. Since Tier 5 Gear essentially replaced Adept gear, there are some prerequisites for it to drop.

  • 450 Power Score
  • A or A+ Activity Score

Secret Chests on Featured Raids

One of the best and most consistent sources for Tier 5 Gear is to look for the secret chests on featured raids. These chests are often found in extremely hard-to-reach places and require access to certain raid checkpoints. Luckily, Guardians with the checkpoints can invite other fellow Guardians to get the free Tier 5 Raid Gear.

Heroic Public Events on Distorted Destination

Ever since the release of Distorted Destinations, these timed events have been a popular choice for many Guardians to grind out some high-tier gear. The Distorted Destination effect has a set rotation; it cycles through the planets and play spaces every hour. While completing regular patrol missions in Distorted areas won't guarantee a Tier 5 all the time, doing so on Heroic difficulty guarantees it.

Expert/Master Lost Sectors

As of now, these are the best ways to farm for Tier 5 Destination Gear. Lost Sectors fell out of favor with the playerbase thanks to the wide variety of content and gear farms. However, the recent update essentially made Lost Sectors viable again. Guardians who choose to run this activity for specific Destination Gear are guaranteed Tier 5 gear if they achieve a high grade on the post-activity screen.

Destination Gear Drop Guide

Here is a quick guide to what gear set you can get and where to get them when doing Lost Sectors.

Other Methods

For those with the Renegades and Edge of Fate expansions, there are ways to farm Tier 5 gear specific to those expansions. Each of these expansions offers boosts that guarantee that all loot drops will be 1 tier higher. Paired with a 450 Power Score, doing any activity within these expansions will almost always guarantee a Tier 5 Gear piece.

A good rule of thumb for obtaining Tier 5 gear is that the harder an activity is, the more likely it is to drop for you. Activities like the Pantheon 2.0 are also a great way to get Tier 5 gear, but it does require a fireteam. As always, Xur, every Guardian's reason for logging in during weekends, is also an amazing way to get Tier 5 gear, assuming you have the currency for them.
