Destiny 2 saw some changes to its power level system, and every Guardian has dropped down to 10 Power Level. Everyone is starting from scratch and on the same footing, so we're all aiming to reach the new power cap. This guide will show players how to reach 450 Power Level in the fastest way possible. To stay ahead of the competition without the time investment, many players turn to Destiny 2 boosting and raid services to secure their place at the top.
Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate Power Level Changes
Aside from resetting all power levels, the new power cap has been changed to 450. The soft cap has also been adjusted to reflect the changes made in the leveling system. Here are all the checkpoints for each rank bracket:
- 10 Power Level: Starting Rank
- 200 Power Level: Soft Cap
- 400 Power Level: Hard Cap
- 450 Power Level: Max Cap
Reaching soft cap is relatively easy, as players can naturally hit this checkpoint simply by playing the Edge of Fate campaign in Legendary mode. Even though the focus is on farming items in Destiny 2, there are still better game modes to run because they reward more loot with high rarities.
How to Reach 450 Power Level Quickly
We'll be focusing on different activities per bracket, which include the campaign and portals. The Portal will be the main activity to farm throughout, while the Crucible is a good option for farming items too. Players will naturally hit soft cap by playing the game, but if you want to reach that bracket quickly, then there are ways to ensure you get to that point. Here's how you reach each power level breakpoint.
Destiny 2 Portal Changes for Boosting Power Level
We'll need to dive deep into Portal activities, as they'll be the main content to help reach a 450 Power Level. Portals allow us to engage in curated activities that we can customize to increase difficulty and enable modifiers. The more difficult a run is, the better the drops we can expect. The main change we'll see with Portals is the removal of limits, allowing us to run them as many times as we like.
Activity Score also plays a massive part in how much loot you get, and this meter scales depending on how well you perform and how fast you finish a run. There are also daily and weekly challenges within the Portal, so you'll need to regularly check them to see which ones you need to complete.
Note: Players will get increased EXP from runs if they're doing Portals with teammates that have significantly higher Power Levels.
Make sure to equip EXP boost items before each run and keep a lookout for seasonal armor and mods that also provide additional EXP on completing an activity. You also have to consider the difficulty levels available for each Power Level. Here are the difficulties per checkpoint:
- Normal: +10
- Advanced: +100
- Expert: +200
- Master: +300
- Grandmaster: +400
- Ultimate: +500
10 Power Level to 200 Power Level
Finishing the campaign in Legendary mode will automatically get you to the next bracket. Any new item you pick up will help you get to the soft cap, so it's a good idea to collect everything that drops. However, we recommend that players complete Brave Mode first before attempting the campaign in Legendary Mode, as it will make the grind much easier. There are also some weekly capstone missions along with repeatable campaign events via the Portal that can help you reach 200 Power Level.
It's also been mentioned that the Crucible will now provide a decent chunk of EXP, so it's a good game mode to run before Legendary mode. You'll get more rewards depending on how well you and your team perform in each fight. However, you don't have to run the Crucible if you don't want to do it.
Note: Doing the Portal capstones yields massive amounts of EXP and Fated Ciphers, which you can use to buy high-tier items from specific NPCs in Kepler.
200 Power Level to 400 Power Level
At this point, Portal will be your primary game mode for farming EXP and items. You'll need to focus on doing more challenging missions in the Portal and doing the Seasonal Reward Track. There aren't any other viable ways to reach 400 Power Level other than to grind your way through this bracket. There aren't any specific Portal modifications that will provide more EXP and drops, so do what is comfortable for you to do.
Note: Ensure that Portal activities are run with more mods to make them more challenging and more rewarding.
400 to 450 Power Level
This bracket is the steepest to climb because simply completing Portals won't suffice. You'll instead focus on doing The Encore Exotic Mission. When adjusting your curated runs, make sure that the reward rank is always at A to make the loot drops worthwhile. Once you're comfortable cranking up Encore Exotics, you can try running Master and Grandmaster levels to increase your loot quality.
Aside from looting, you also need to stockpile on gear above 200 to dismantle them later on to get Unstable Cores. You'll need these materials to upgrade your best equipment to 450 Power Level. Unstable Cores are obtained from any gear beyond 200 Power Level, so it's a good idea to dismantle anything you come across instead of just discarding or selling them. Doing all these will eventually help you reach the max cap in Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate.
