ARC Raiders is known for its extremely threatening ARC enemies, who can adapt their movement on the fly. Even the endgame is all about killing the toughest enemies like the Queen and Matriarch, who drop extremely valuable loot. However, you can expect certain players to shoot you in the back for all the loot you have. You can influence your matchmaking experience so that every player you match with will be friendly. Here’s how you can skew your runs towards PvE lobbies and avoid PvP lobbies.
Aggression-Based Matchmaking System
Some players prefer the tension of extracting with the threat of greedy rats, while others want a chill, casual experience. Your behaviour towards other players is tracked in ARC Raiders, which depends on whether you start fights or stay passive. This is aggression-based matchmaking that separates players into PvE-friendly and PvP-sweaty groups.
While this kind of matchmaking lowers the chances of you getting killed by another player, it does not eliminate the probability of PvP happening completely, since you can still take damage from player gunfire. Still, entering friendly lobbies.
How To Enter PvE Friendly Lobbies
If you’re a passive player and avoid taking the first shot at others, the matchmaking will put you in matches with friendly players. Killing a player will cause the system to view you as an aggressor, which will put you in lobbies with other aggressive players. Self-defence will also count towards your aggression score, so try to pack smoke grenades and other defensive consumables.
Will There Be A PvE Only Mode?
Currently, Embark Studios has no plans to add a PvE mode since PvPvE is a core part of ARC Raiders’ identity. While they have implemented the aggression-based matchmaking system to make it easier for players to do quests or just farm loot, the developers still want players to feel the extraction shooter friction.
